Imitating Christs Humility

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭11‬

Imitate his good deeds, imitate his selflessness, imitate his love.

If we can give some one a fraction of the love Christ has for us we can change lives

If we can give a fraction of what Christ gave to help someone out in a time of need we can change our lives.

It’s important to understand that we can never give out the same way that Christ did. But if we can do a small piece, Christ will continue to give everything!

Imitating Christs humility.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Christ, King of Kings, came down to us and walked with us. God himself came down and lived with us.

Christ brought himself came down to our “level” and died on a cross for us!

When we think of our relationships with other can we say the same?

Are we humbling ourselves when talking to others?

Are we Experiencing someone else’s life when we talk to them, do we know what it’s like to walk in their shoes?

Imitating Christs humility.

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬

Are you encouraged by Christs love for you?

Are you comforted by that love?

These questions should lead us to be selfless, giving our skills abundantly. Sharing those skills with our neighbor. Giving generously without selfish ambition, but valuing others above your self!

SUNDAY!!

Philippians 2:3 says, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."

Here's a question for us all on the way in this morning: why are we coming to church today? Most of us would say to worship, to hear a good message, to be fed. And all of that is good. But what if we also walked in asking who we could serve?

Someone will walk through those doors today feeling like they don't belong. Someone will sit alone. Someone is carrying something heavy and hoping a stranger notices. That could be where you come in. Say hello to the person you don't know. Hold the door. Sit in a different seat and make room for someone else. Ask how they're really doing, and then actually listen.

When we come to give instead of just to get, we usually end up better off for it.

So come ready to worship, and come ready to serve.

Happy Saturday, church family!

Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

This time of year, it’s easy to get distracted by all of the fear, death, evil, and pure humanity celebrated all over the place. But if you look above it all, the leaves have turned by now, the mornings are crisp, and the sky does something different almost every morning and evening. Nobody had to schedule any of it. Creation just keeps talking about who made it, day after day, whether we're paying attention or not.

So today, step outside for a few minutes. Leave the phone in your pocket. Look up. Take a walk, sit on the porch, or watch the sunset a little longer than usual. Let it remind you that the God who painted that sky is the same one who's walking with you throughout your week.

And tomorrow, come worship the One those skies are pointing to.

Happy Friday, Corry!

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." – Proverbs 16:3

As the week winds down, it's easy to look back at everything that didn't go the way we planned. But this verse is a good reminder that we were never meant to establish the plans on our own. We just commit them to Him and He does the rest. When we hand our work, our worries, and our plans over to God, He's faithful to steady our steps and lead us where we need to go.

So this weekend, remember, Jesus is the leader, we’re all just here to follow Him. And then come worship with us! We'd love to see you this Sunday at 10:45am at Relevant Church, 100 W South St in Corry. Bring a friend, bring the family, come as you are. There's a seat saved for you. 💺 ✌️

Thursdayyy!!

Today’s YouVersion daily verse is Ruth 1:16 and it says, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God."

Ruth didn't have a plan or a guarantee. Naomi was grieving and had nothing to offer her. Ruth just stayed. She showed up, and that changed the course of both their lives.

Most of the time, showing up for our people isn't dramatic. It looks like:

Send the text that says "thinking of you" with no agenda attached.
Drop off a meal, or coffee, without asking if they need it.
Sit with someone in the hard stuff without trying to fix it.
Show up at the game, the recital, the hospital room, the funeral.
Pick up the phone when you'd normally just text.

Small things done faithfully tend to mean the most. People rarely remember what you said, but they remember who was there.

So who's your Naomi today? Who could use you to just show up?
