Meet Kolby!

Kolby is a first year barn student who will be running the barn maintenance this summer! That basically just means he fix’s fence, but he will be in charge of anything that people or horses break in the barn this summer!

Kolby is from Virginia and has had a long story when it comes to the ranch. After many years of camp, volunteering, and summer staff, he decided to come as a student alongside his younger brother, Colten, and his horse, Aquena, for the 2025-2026 school year!

It has been a long year of learning the cold and working hard through it, but Kolby has been an absolute joy to have and will forever be a brother with the guys here in the SOD!

One of Kolby’s favorite things about being in the barn is the friendships he’s made, and the progress he’s made with Aquena. Since arriving as a student, Kolby has saddle broke and ridden Aquena in the arena and the trails!

Summer Rodeo Games!

Students are preparing for Summer Camp in the barn by practicing the weekly Rodeo Games held by barn ranchers on Friday Nights! It was a blast getting to enjoy time together figuring things out and breaking the rhythm of mock lessons and work projects!

It’s time for Open House!!

Our biggest event of the year happens annually from 10am-5pm this Memorial Day, a day to remember the goodness of our God in giving us freedoms worth fighting for, and honoring those who have lost their lives fighting for them.

SO we will be having a huge FREE event here at the Ranch so that all of you can get a taste of what the Ranch is all about! Everything from a flag presentation on horseback to food and games for the family will be provided for you to enjoy with family and friends!

Summer Positions are a GO!!

We are in summer mode here at the Ranch! That means classes are over and students are busy getting things ready for summer camp! Everything from CHA, to fixing fence, and mowing lawn! We’re excited for the change in weather and change of pace!

Spring time has brought new life to the ranch! So far we have welcomed 2 new fillys, and have 2 more foals on the way!

Only a few weeks till Spring Break!

With grading day just around the corner, students have been crazy busy with school, departments, and TRAVELING!

Programming departments took last week to go CCCA, Christian Camp Conference Association, and learn more about camping ministries while getting to fellowship with other “interns” and camp staff!

This week, camping ministry students got to go to Tweakage (slide 3), a large summer camp idea conference which switches between coastal locations every two years! This year they had an amazing conference in Michigan and both students and staff had a fantastic time!

But wait, that’s not all!!

Right now the Barn students are away at Horse World on the other side PA enjoying clinics, fun vendors, and quality time together not having to do barn chores👀

The traveling has been a lot of fun and there is a new found energy heading out of the winter season into the spring!

We just got back from Christmas break and are adjusting to camp life again. Recently, they joined departments (Posts will be coming soon!!) and have been busy learning, growing, and enjoying fellowship.

Please pray for us as we have a busy retreat schedule ahead, and it already feels like summer camp season is just around the corner!

This weekend we welcome Youth Winter Blast for a weekend filled with fun games, scripture teaching, and hot cocoa! Next weekend, we welcome “saltines” for the SALT retreat, and the students will get to share about the amazing SOD program to prospective students.

We are excited to see wha the Lord does in these next several weeks as we embark in the next chapter of the program! Happy New Year!

We have just wrapped up Week 1 of the 2025-2026 school year!

This week has been full of learning both in the classroom and around the ranch. Students are working hard in class, chores, and horsemanship classes to get used to the busy pace of life here at MMR and are enjoying fellowship together along the way!

Please continue to pray for this class as we search to be of one mind in spirit in Christ (Philippians 2:2)!
