Religion asks you to clean yourself up before you walk through the door. God says come as you are -- because the whole point of the bath is to get clean.

This week's message from David Edwards challenged us to examine the difference between religious performance and genuine righteousness. Rooted in 1 Samuel 16:7 and the story of David -- a man after God's own heart who still fell and repented -- we were reminded that God does not look at outward appearance. He looks at the heart.

The breastplate of righteousness in Ephesians 6:14 does not cover a perfect person. It covers a real one. When God clothes you in His righteousness, others see His armor, not your scars.

Come as you are. Bring your imperfections. He is still working on all of us.
