What is a church?

It’s a simple question—but how we answer it shapes everything we do in missions. The church is more than a building or a weekly gathering. It’s God’s design for advancing His mission.
In this week’s One Mission in Two Minutes, we take a closer look at why the local church is central to missions—and why healthy, multiplying churches are the goal. Watch the video below to see how this truth shapes everything we do.

“Thank you for coming. Almost no one visits me.”

Those words greeted ChangeMaker Gerson Orellana when he arrived in Paraguay earlier this year to encourage local missions coordinator Regino Acuña and the ministry taking place there.

What followed was a powerful reminder that missions is built on relationships, encouragement, discipleship, and faithful local leaders.

Even through challenges, God continues working through this growing church community in Paraguay.

We are pleased to announce that Candra Barnett has joined the Missionary Care team as a Regional Care Coordinator!

Candra will continue serving on the field in Romania while expanding her ministry through this new role, strengthening our ability to care for and support missionaries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Many of you already know Candra through her thoughtfully written articles in Continual Call. Her insight, clarity, and heart for people have already been a gift to our ministry, and I know she will continue to be a tremendous help with future writing
and research projects.

We are grateful for Candra’s willingness to step into this role and for the heart she brings to caring for those who serve. Please join us in welcoming her to the team and praying for her as she begins this work!

It’s important to connect with people—but that’s not where missions stops.
In Acts 17, Paul begins with common ground, but he doesn’t stay there. He moves from connection to truth, clearly proclaiming who God is and calling people to respond.

In this week’s One Mission in Two Minutes, we take a closer look at the balance between compassion and clarity—and why both are essential in biblical missions. Watch the video below to see how this pattern still shapes the way we share the Gospel today.

In El Cajon, God is moving through the ministry of Pastor Mkram Shahatit and their church community!

Recently, they celebrated a beautiful wedding, honored mothers on Mother’s Day, and continued faithfully serving their community through year-round evangelism. Every summer, they open their doors through VBS to share the hope of Jesus with families and children.

God is working, lives are being changed, people are being baptized, and new leaders are being raised up!

This is what Gospel impact looks like — a local church faithfully loving its community and pointing people to Christ.

Please join us in praying for revival in El Cajon and San Diego, and ask the Lord to continue blessing this church so they can be a blessing to the people around them!

More than 20 years after leaving Cape Verde, a missionary returned to find something incredible:

The churches were still standing.
Local leaders were faithfully serving.
The Gospel was still moving forward.

One of the pastors being ordained during the visit had actually come to Christ during those early missionary years.

That’s the true measure of ministry.

Not just what we build… but who we invest in.

This story is a powerful reminder that faithful Gospel work can impact generations long after missionaries leave.

Some people leave home for comfort.
Others leave home so someone else can hear about Jesus for the very first time.

Pastor David and Pastor Juran did exactly that.

After graduating from the BMA Bible College in the Philippines, they moved to Cambodia — not just as teachers, but as church planters faithfully saying “yes” to wherever God would send them.

Now, they’re preparing to host their very first BMMI medical mission team.

What may look like a medical clinic on the outside is really something much deeper:
relationships being built,
doors being opened,
and the hope of the Gospel reaching communities in powerful ways.

Our BMMI team is preparing to serve alongside these church planters in Cambodia, and we would love for you to join us in prayer.

Pray for:
• wisdom and preparation
• health and safety
• meaningful connections in the community
• open hearts to the Gospel
• lives to be changed through Jesus

In just a couple of weeks, they’ll be stepping onto planes carrying more than luggage — they’ll be carrying the hope of the Gospel. 🌍

They’ve fundraised.
They’ve trained.
They’ve prayed and been prayed over.

And now, they’re preparing to serve alongside missionaries around the world through VSM.

Soon they’ll be leading VBS, leading worship, serving at youth events, encouraging missionary families, and sharing the love of Jesus across cultures and languages.

But these trips are about more than travel.
They’re about transformation.

We’re praying for open hearts.
For bold faith.
For safe travels.
For lives to be changed — not only among those they serve, but within the students and leaders themselves.

We pray these teams would strengthen missionaries, encourage local churches, and leave an eternal impact for the Kingdom.

Would you join us in praying for every student, leader, missionary, and person they’ll encounter over the coming weeks?

Drop a 🙏 in the comments if you’ll be praying for them, and share this post so more people can cover these teams in prayer.

What if one of the most important parts of missions isn’t speaking—but listening?
In Acts 17, we see a clear pattern for how the Gospel moves across cultures. Paul didn’t withdraw when things felt unfamiliar—he leaned in, observed, and engaged with intention.

In this week’s One Mission in Two Minutes, we explore what it really means to do missions the way God designed. Watch the video below to see how this biblical pattern still shapes the way we go today.
