Under the care of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity in the Diocese of Savannah our parish is very multi-culltural with nationalities including Hispanic, American, German, Korean, and more... Come join us! ABOUT OUR PARISH
In November 1957, the Most Reverend Bishop Thomas McDonough, Bishop of Savannah, decided that a parish should be established in South Columbus to serve the many m
ilitary servicemen and families in that area. Six month later, on Christmas Eve of 1958, the first Mass was offered in the nearly completed church. There was no glass in the windows and the wind came right through some of the cellophane covering the openings, but there was standing room only. Another step had been realized. In January 1959, the church was officially dedicated and the rectory was completed in March of 1959. The convent and school were completed in 1960 and classes began in the fall. Our Lady of Lordes Parish is the home parish for St. Mary Magdalen Mission in Buena Vista Ga. Mary Magdalen is a small but vibrant community located in Buena Vista, Ga., the county seat of rural Marion County. The bilingual Mass is celebrated every Saturday at 7:00 PM. We have a large Hispanic community also. Phone or e-mail for holyday Masses. Mary Magdalen is a mission of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Columbus, Ga, and is a part of the Diocese Of Savannah.
