As our Muslim siblings prepare to celebrate Eid al-Adha, we extend our prayers and warm wishes for a blessed and joyful holiday.

Eid al-Adha, often called the “Festival of Sacrifice,” commemorates Abraham’s deep faith, trust in God, and willingness to follow God’s call. It is a time marked by prayer, generosity, community, and care for those in need.

While we may not celebrate Eid al-Adha, as followers of Jesus we believe loving our neighbors means honoring the dignity, faith, and humanity of people whose beliefs may differ from our own. Respect, compassion, and understanding help build the kind of community where EVERYONE can flourish!

Gracious God,
on this Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in service to others.
Hold in your care the families who carry both pride and grief,
and grant us the wisdom to honor their sacrifice not only with words, but with lives shaped by justice, mercy, and peace.

Teach us to be faithful stewards of the freedom entrusted to us,
and to seek the kind of world for which they gave so much.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen

This Sunday in Adult Ed, we’re honored to welcome representatives from Kaleidoscope Youth Center (another one of our newer benevolence recipients/ministry partners) — Ohio’s largest and longest-standing organization dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth.

Since 1994, KYC has been creating safer spaces, providing housing and wellness support, offering leadership opportunities, and walking alongside young people as they discover who they are and who they’re becoming.

Their work is deeply rooted in belonging, dignity, and hope — values that matter profoundly in the lives of young people today. We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn more about their ministry and mission, hear stories of impact here in Columbus, and explore ways we can partner together in supporting youth in our community.

Join us this Sunday, May 17, during Adult Education for this important conversation. You can learn more about KYC here:

Belonging begins here. KYC empowers LGBTQIA+ youth across Ohio with free programs, leadership opportunities, and affirming community support designed to help every young person stand confidently in who they are.
