A quick recap from this past Sunday! 🙏

We had the honor of dedicating the children of our church, celebrating our high school graduates, hearing a powerful message from Dr. John Walton, and wrapping up the day with an engaging Q&A together.

John reminded us that from Genesis to Revelation, the story of Scripture is ultimately a story of God’s desire to be with His people. Time and time again, we see a God who moves toward relationship, dwelling among His people and inviting them into His purposes.

We were challenged to nurture our relationship with God through His Word, participate in His story, and intentionally practice His presence in our everyday lives.

Days like this remind us how blessed we are to have this community, these families, and the opportunity to grow together as we pursue Jesus.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to see what God continues to do in and through our church family. ❤️

Jam-packed and exciting Sunday ahead here at Garden Church! 🙌

As a reminder, Sunday morning we will be celebrating child dedications, honoring our high school graduates, and having the privilege of welcoming John Walton to lead our sermon.

Following the morning service, we’ll be hosting a live Q&A with John, in place of our Sunday night gathering, where he’ll answer your questions regarding Genesis chapters 1–4.

If you haven’t already registered for these events, please do so through our events page or within the Church Center app.

We can’t wait to see you all!

Yesterday, we continued through Genesis 4 and explored the two trajectories humanity takes after the fall.

Cain’s line built cities, advanced culture, created music, technology, and industry, yet underneath the progress was spiritual fracture, violence, pride, and self-exaltation. Humanity was building externally while drifting further internally from God.

In contrast, the line of Seth is marked by a simple but powerful statement:
“People began to call upon the name of the Lord.”

One path is marked by self-sufficiency.
The other by dependence on God.

So the question becomes:
What is forming in us while we build?

It’s a reminder that outward success can never replace inward dependence on God. We were never meant to build life on our own terms.

May we be people who return to dependence, surrender, and calling upon the name of the Lord. 🙏

Next Sunday, the 31st, we are honored to welcome John H. Walton, Professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College. John will be teaching at our morning gathering at 10am and will host a live Q&A at our evening gathering at 6pm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This special Q&A will focus on Genesis 1–4, and we could not be more excited for the opportunity to learn together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
John Walton has authored and edited more than 50 books, including the widely known “Lost World” series. He is especially recognized for his work on the ancient Near Eastern background of the Old Testament and the conversation between science and faith. He also served as the general editor of the Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible and is currently writing a two-volume commentary on Daniel.

If you plan on attending the evening Q&A, please make sure to RSVP through our events page. We can’t wait for this incredible Sunday together!

Yesterday’s message through Genesis 4 challenged us to look deeper than outward actions and examine the posture of our hearts.

Cain and Abel’s story isn’t just about an offering, it’s about the posture of the heart. God cared more about what was driving Cain than what he brought. Comparison, resentment, anger, and bitterness slowly took root, and what started internally eventually became destructive externally.

How often do we find ourselves doing the same thing?

Comparison steals joy. Anger grows when trust in God diminishes. But even in the middle of consequences, failure, and sin, God’s hand still reaches toward us.

The beautiful hope woven through this story is this: Jesus is the better brother. Where Cain took a life, Jesus gave His life. His blood speaks mercy, grace, and reconciliation over us.

Before moving forward this week, take a moment to sit honestly before the Lord. What resentment, comparison, or bitterness might be brewing beneath the surface? God is not afraid of your honesty, He’s pursuing you even there. 🤍

Yesterday’s message was a powerful reminder that God’s enemy was never humanity… it was the serpent.

In Genesis 3, we see that while sin brought separation and hardship into the world, God’s response was never abandonment. Even outside of the garden, Adam and Eve still carried God’s favor. He clothed them, protected them, and promised a Savior to come.

So often, deception convinces us that we have to define good and evil for ourselves… that we have to make life make sense on our own. But God’s desire has always been relationship, restoration, and reconciliation. 🤍

Holiness isn’t about perfection or rule-following. It’s about being set apart and walking with Him. Because of Jesus, we are covered by grace and invited back into the presence of God.

What a beautiful reminder of the Father’s heart for His people. 🙏

This week at Garden, we stepped into Genesis 3:14–19 and saw something powerful:

God doesn’t just confront sin… He reveals what sin does.

From the very beginning, the fall introduced tension into everything—our relationships, our work, even within ourselves. That constant pull we feel? The struggle, the resistance, the questions of “why is life like this?”… it goes deeper than circumstances. It’s the reality of a broken world.

But here’s the truth:

God didn’t abandon humanity in that moment. He stepped in.

He placed enmity between us and the enemy, not as punishment, but as protection. A tension that keeps us aware, growing, and choosing between truth and deception. Because every area of growth in our lives starts with tension.

We feel it.
We wrestle with it.
But it’s not meaningless.

Tension produces something in us…dependence on God. Dependence in God produces fruit.

As we reflect this week, ask yourself:
• Where am I listening to the wrong voice?
• Where am I trying to control instead of trust?
• Where am I striving instead of receiving?

You don’t have to carry it alone.
God already made a way.
