A statement from Pastor Paul:
Being aware of the recent allegations made against me—and against Candlelight—I have chosen to delay commenting until now.
To protect the privacy and well-being of my daughter, my wife, our other children, and the Candlelight family, I will not offer a detailed response to numerous egregious false accusations and misrepresentations now circulating. Still, silence can be misread, even when accusations are unfounded. I feel something must be said.
I deeply love my daughter and continue to pray for restoration with her. My private text to her—now public—was not an admission of guilt, but an attempt to minister to her in her hurts and grievances.
I have sought to lead my family and this church with grace and sincerity. I remain committed to leading well.
Note that the majority of what is being alleged involves pastors and ministries not under my authority, and thus I cannot offer further comment or explanation as they do not pertain to Candlelight.
I have remained diligent in safeguarding both my home and the Candlelight congregation. Moreover, we conduct background checks for all who work with children or serve in leadership.
Leadership often brings scrutiny. Spins and mischaracterizations are common among those of us who take a strong stand for things of truth and conscience.
My home is safe. My life is in order. We will not be bullied. We will not be silent. We will not bow!
