When Bishop Godfrey joined us for the centennial anniversary of our beautiful church, he helped us celebrate the new with the old. Following Bishop’s homily, Father Uriel unveiled our new tabernacle. Bishop Godfrey then blessed and dedicated The Lord’s new resting place in our church.

The previous tabernacle came to us from another parish in the mid 1990’s replacing the one before it that had been stolen and destroyed. That original tabernacle was purchased by the Cerny family for our parish in the 1950s.

After trying to refinish the previous tabernacle, Father Uriel led us to purchase this new one from Catholic Supply in St. Louis. The new bronze tabernacle was made to order and features a satin and high polish finish. It is lined with cedar and white silk and weighs in at 240 pounds.

"Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love...Let our adoration never cease.” Paragraph 1380 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church

A beautiful day!

We celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi - Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - with Catholic Diocese of Belleville Bishop Godfrey.

He joined us as we celebrated the anniversary of our church built 100 years ago. Bishop Godfrey also blessed our new tabernacle.

We finished our celebration with a meal by Don Sol. Thank you Don Sol and everyone who helped with the special day.

Today is Pentecost Sunday! Happy birthday to our Catholic Church!

According to catholicculture.org, “Pentecost, the birth of the Church, is also among the celebrations of May. Though sprung from the side of Christ on the Cross, the Church marks as her birthday the descent of the Holy Spirit on Mary and the Apostles. At the 'birth' of the world, the Holy Spirit - the Breath of God - was the "mighty wind [that] swept over the waters" (Gen 1:2); at the birth of the Church He is present again "like the rush of a mighty wind" to recreate the world in the image of Christ through His Church (Acts 2:2).”

PENTECOST marks the end of the Easter season in the Christian calendar. A Holy Day of Obligation, we celebrate the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Upper Room - the beginning of the early Church. We hope you are wearing something RED to signify the fire of the Holy Spirit and the liturgical color of this Feast!

Next Sunday is also another special day as we acknowledge who is most important in our faith, the Triune God, Trinity Sunday.

Before this day ends, let us thank God for our heavenly Mother. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
