This past week our went on their annual summer mission experience to learn how Beyond Our Walls, Inc. makes long term impacts in their community by strengthening academic foundations, fostering healthy life and social skills, and showing how to form consistent and caring relationships. Why begin at childhood? “We focus on young children during their most formative years, when learning habits, emotional regulation, and social skills are still developing. By investing early, we help children build the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.”

While there, we helped to clean and organize storage facilities, reset their garden and clean up the play area, clean out, organize, and restructure a learning center which will be home to a whole new platform of learning this school year, spent time with their precious children through various outdoor and indoor activities, and learned their initiatives so we can bring them back to our own community.

Thank you Lensey Cabral for leading group devotions each night, Kensley Puryear for leading group activities to correlate to group devotions, Ryan Freeman for stepping in wherever needed and helping keep track of everyone. A special thank you to Brian Royal and Susan Dunn, our top notch chaperones who not only served in a big way each day, but kept our students safe and entertained on late night runs to King St, zip lining, and Mini-Bus Carpool Karoke.

This was the 10th year our have traveled to study poverty alleviation and each year we learn new ways to make long term impacts that we hope will carry into the lives of these students wherever their future takes them.
