In 1841 a group of dedicated Christian people banded together to form the Bluff Creek Baptist Church. In time, though, the group joined the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association before the turn of the century. Throughout its years, Bluff Creek has shown a spirit of cooperation with its sister churches. At present,Bluff
Creek is a charter member of the William Wallace Baptist Association, begun in 1953. God has truly blessed our church with adequate facilities for teaching and worship. Some may rememberin the 1940s, the old frame building was torn down in order to accommodate a new sanctuary. Complimenting the sanctuary, an educational wing was added some years later. In the late 1980s, a Building to Serve program was established, and within 2 years a new 250 seat sanctuary was dedicated. The old building was converted into a large fellowship hall, and later a new kitchen was built. As we grow in membership, we need additional classroom spaces and an activity center. A long line of faithful and dedicated ministers has led Bluff Creek through years of growth, struggle, heartache, happiness, despair and success. These dedicated leaders have brought this church through many generations of spiritual growth and learning. In all of the church's history, however, the greatness of its people has kept Bluff Creek as a light in the country, a lighthouse on the corner! Because of the love of the men, women and children who were bornand who lived and died with this church, it stands as God's Community, proclaiming the message of Christ to a lost world. Certainly those saints who are gone and those of us present now will want to acknowledge the origin of our faith and steadfastness to the One who provides for all our needs, Jesus Christ.
