SACERDOTAL FUNCTIONS OF MINISTRY:
If you are an Ordained Minister in the USA 🇺🇸 the Internal Revenue Service expects you to do a majority (4 out of the first 7 listed below) of the following Sacerdotal (Sacred/Priestly/Ministerial) Functions:
1. Preach/Teach God’s Word
2. Lead Worship Services
3. Officiate Weddings
4. Officiate Baptisms
5. Officiate Child/Baby Dedications
6. Officiate Holy Communion (Eucharist).
7. Conducting Funerals (my least favorite, but still needful part of life and supporting people in this challenging part of life).
8. Christian Counseling - Marriage; Grief/Loss; Addictions, Spiritual Struggles (some may call this Deliverance Ministry).
9. Church Administration/Ministry Management: for example - overseeing Building/Facilities Management; Staff & Volunteer, IRS Compliance; Church Board, Church Finance Management, Missions, Charitable Contributions, Social & Community Services, etc. Depending on your vision, mission, articles of incorporation …
Note: I included the last two, which often come with the job (calling/vocation).
Most ministers all over the world do a lot more than I’ve listed. Appreciate your spiritual leaders, pray for them and support them.
They need you!
Without the invaluable support of the Helps Ministries in the church, ministers suffer needlessly and the work is hindered.
Hope someone learns from this and makes a positive impact and godly contribution to the work of God, locally and globally. Amen
Blessings Always,
Rev. Dr. Anthony Turkson
Senior Pastor - WMM.
