Good Thursday morning everyone. A little rain may fall today but still a great day! Just be alert of any "ponding" water on the roadways!!

We always thought that at this age we would like to be able to travel some and now that we are this age, we do get to travel! Thing is, our traveling is mostly to doctor appointments! Went to 2 yesterday, got one today and to Indy tomorrow for another!!

Psalm 23:6, "For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish." How quickly we forget these words! Then...you zoom on to the book of Revelation and you see this truth played out in truth.

Sometimes we may get weary. We might get tired of the life we live. We might get bogged down with the little things in life that we spend so much time focusing on that instead of focussing on eternity!

As a believer, this life is the worse we will ever deal with! Our eternity is set, unmovable, and full of glory!! Why? Not because of our righteousness, but because HIS righteousness has been applied to us....for HIS glory!

Because of that, no matter what we go through in this life here we can smile, we can be rejoicing, we can have joy everlasting because of HIM!!

Good pleasant Tuesday morning everyone! The Little Italy Festival for this year is now history! Clinton will get back to "normal" quickly as we look forward to other local festivals that will be here quickly ,the Newport Hill Climb and the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival!!

This past Sunday morning I preached a sermon simply titled "Remember". That word is found in 144 verses in the Bible! They say that if we don't remember history we are sure to repeat it! As we come upon the 25th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11/01 the matter of remembering is so important.

It seems as if many have forgotten that fateful day in the very city and state where the towers were! The unprovoked attack on our nation by what has been found to have been brought about by Islamic extremist, the city where it happened now has a mayor who practices Islam and the state has a governor who it seems is as well. Are we ready to repeat?

The first time we find the word "remember" in the Bible is in Genesis 9:15 and it is God that is speaking, "And I will remember my covenant, which is between my and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh."

As God said that He would remember He wasn’t saying that He had forgotten! The matter of to remember is to have something placed on the forefront. We might word it like this, "front and center". What is being focused on at the moment is the matter of the covenant that God made with "all flesh", "every living creature of all flesh".

God is consoling Noah and his family, letting them that He is there, that He cares. Reminding them that His word is sure, reliable. To remind them that He is present, He has not abandoned them, nor will He ever!

God still remembers. His love is still everlasting. His grace still sufficient. His salvation still available. There is no question of God remembering, question is, do you remember God?

Good pleasant Monday morning everyone! The heat is down, the humidity is down, a nice September morning!!

Matthew 4:17. "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

REPENT! I keep hearing this word from a lot of different on-line post. Preachers are using it. Lay people are using it. Older adults are using it. Younger adults are using it. Even some teens and pre-teens are using it! It is popping up all over the place!!

Sadly, many that using it are using it wrong! Many are using it as a command as a command to be sorry for sins, or to seek forgiveness from the Lord, or some other action that is NOT noted by the word 'repent'!

To repent may bring about some of the above, might be the result of one who has repented, but it is not what repent is! To repent is simply thinking differently....afterwards! That is, after some new information is received the thinking changes, the view of how one viewed something changes.

In the Bible when we find this word used it is usually talking of thinking differently about sin, about what is truly salvation, what it means to know the Lord, what is involved in living for the Lord. So many have thoughts, ideas, even beliefs about a host of the things that the Bible is clear about but they believe certain ways about things because of how they were taught.

As the Lord begins to speak He encouraged people to "repent". To take what was or is about to be shared and re-think how they viewed things. To take the new information and give thought to the truth of what was shared.

As one repents, many times new actions, new choices, new understanding takes root and actions and beliefs many times changes. First the new information, then....give thought.

Good cooler but still mighty warm Sunday morning everyone! Not suppose to be quite as hot today but still not sweater weather as you head out to church services this morning.

Psalm 105:4-5, "Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvelous works that he hath down; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth."

Remember! That is the title of this morning's sermon at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Remember! To bring to the forefront of the mind. To recount, set a mark.

Often times the matter of to remember is not because one has forgotten, but simply because whatever is not the main focus at the moment. You retain the information, however it has not been the main theme in conversations or in the making of future plans.

As the Psalmist talks about remembering, he brings back to the forefront THE LORD! He shares some things that has been important in his life concerning the Lord, such as His strength, His presence, his marvelous works, His wonders and His word.

Things that had a great impact in his life. As you take time to "remember" the Lord, what comes to your mind? Particular moments? Answers to particular prayers? His watchfulness and protection over you at particular times? The different people that He has brought into your life? His glorious salvation? Portions of His word that have been paramount in guiding you through life?

Good sunny, hot, humid Saturday morning everyone! The Little Italy Festival got off to a start with the annual Little Italy Parade yesterday evening and the festival runs through Monday evening. In the middle of the festival is Sunday and If you are in town and looking for a place to worship we extend a warm welcome to you at Solid Rock Baptist Church at 846 S 9th St in Clinton. Our services begin at 9:00 am with our Young Adult Class, followed by our Morning Worship time at 10:00, and a sermon simply titled "Remember". After what will be for some a busy afternoon, we return at 6:00 pm for our Evening Worship time. We would love to have you join with us for these times!!

Ephesians 2:11, "Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;"

Remember, re-call a time in the past. To recount an activity, a place, people, even possibly smells and taste of something from the past. Remember.

Just about everyone has memories. A past experience, habits, styles, friends and such that has helped shape us to who we are today. The way that we grew up, the rules our parents had and the rules we placed out for out children as they grew up. We remember activities, such as high school sports, a favorite school or church play, the smell that often came from Grandma's kitchen, childhood friends and experiences with them!

Many of us have memories of churches that we attended in our life. We remember certain preachers and some sermons they preached. Certain Sunday school teachers that made an impact in our lives.

As we remember, many times smiles are found on our face, and some times tears flow down the cheeks. Not all memories are fond, some memories are of "bad" times instead of good!

Paul encouraged the believers at Ephesus to remember how it was BEFORE they came to Christ. Why? Not to encourage them to relive those days with great joy and excitement, but rather to help them be refreshed in their desire to share the gospel with others so that they too can come to know the Lord. Memories can help motivate for good.

Good HOT Friday morning everyone! Another hot forecast for the start of the Little Italy Festival here in Clinton, IN. This begins the fall festivals in the area with several more coming soon! If you are headed to Clinton for the festival in the next 4 days remember to allow extra time as traffic will be heavier than normal.

Matthew 4:19, "And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

It is amazing how many attempt the last part of this verse while omitting the first part! A lot of people including preachers, want to do things their way. Using programs that they have designed, plans that you almost have to have a well designed spreadsheet to keep up with the plan.

"Soul winning" campaigns and conferences with well laid out instructions based upon the favorite "approaches" used by the one or team that came up with the "plan". Describing their daily approaches, their favorite verses, very articulated responses to possible questions that one might have asked of them as they implement the "plan".

After the campaign, after the conference, after the hype settles down and as "the numbers" are tallied it is noticed that during the campaign, shortly after the conference the "numbers" were up...for a while and then things were back "to normal". Why? The first part was of what Jesus said in the above verse was left out!

People are instructed to follow some "plan" that somebody came up with, laying out a "how to' guide of "soul winning" that may or may not have worked for them to some degree, but one that was based on their recommendations and not on how Jesus taught!

To be "fishers of men" there is no short cut, no "better plan" that to rely on the Lord, to "follow' Him. Peter gave some great words that will help, "But grow in grace, AND in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"!

Good Thursday morning everyone! If you haven't been outdoors yet this morning, brace yourself! It is already steamy and the high temperature is expected to be right at 100 actual temperature, and then add to that the humidity and it is over 110!

A good Bible study last evening, good conversation afterwards with many questions and comments, which always makes for a good learning time.

Psalm 67:7, "God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him."

I have seen countless online post, I have heard many voices through the years taking verses such as the above one and proclaim a "blanket" expectation of supposed promised blessings.

So many search the scriptures for a "get out jail free" verse, phrase, few words. Something that they think "covers" their choices in life and totally setting aside the rest of God's word, as if that one verse, that one phrase, that one passage is the entirety of what God has for us with "no strings" attached!

As you read the Bible, as you view different passages, it is wise to slow down, check out the passages that come before the selected text. After doing that, continue to read past the selected passage. Check out the "who" is being talking to or about and the "why" the statement is made and the "what" of what is going on to being about the statement.

Good continued hot Wednesday morning everyone! Clinton is bustling with activity preparing for the Little Italy Festival that starts Friday evening and goes through Monday evening. Be watchful as you go through town as things are getting busier and people stopping in the middle of the road!!

This evening, starting at 7:00, is our weekly Bible study time at Solid Rock Baptist Church. We are in a series of "Then_Now_Later" and currently in the 6th chapter of the book of Revelation.

We find that the Lamb took "the book" that God Almighty had and begins to open the 7 seals of it and gives John a view of what is there, as we read in Revelation 6:1, "And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see."

Previously, in Revelation 5:4 we read, "And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon." This was the scene as the book is introduced in verse 1 of chapter 5 and then in verse 4 we find that there is no one who is WORTHY to not only open the book, but also to read the book, and even to simply look in the book....until The Lamb comes!

After The Lamb opens the first of the seven seals, one of the four beasts bids John to "come and see" John was NOT worthy to open the seal, to read, to even look therein, however, because of the Lamb being worthy, John was allowed to look therein based on the Lamb's worth, not on his own worth.

Just another example of some of what we have BECAUSE OF THE LAMB!!
