Good Thursday morning everyone! Another beautiful day out there to enjoy as the gift that is from God Almighty!!

Psalm 143:1, "Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness." The Psalmist knew something about prayer and the ONE to whom he was praying!

I have heard a lot of prayers in my life time and read many more. I love to hear people pray and specially over time, seeing and hearing how their prayers change as they grow.

Some, as they pray, make it a production. They are careful to include emotional input to impress others, thinking that the praise of others some how gains more merit with God in His answering of their prayers.

The most honest prayers are from hearts, not mouths. The ones that bare the heart, understanding that prayer is a conversation between them and God. If others hear it, fine, if not, fine. It is not about what others might think, how others might view the prayer, it is not about them, they are not part of the conversation. It is a moment between the one praying and the One to whom they are praying.

The Psalmist knew that and he shows great understanding concerning the One that he is praying to, as he asks the LORD ot give ear the LORD's faitfhulness and righteousness, not based upon the Psalmist faithfulness or supposed righteousness!

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good Wednesday morning everyone!

Looking for something to do this evening? Here's an idea...join us at Solid Rock Baptist Church at 7:00 for our weekly Bible study time as we continue our study titled "Then-Now-Later" as we finish looking at the message to the church at Thyatira in Revelation 2.

Revelation 2:21, "And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not."

My dad was a pulpit pounding, red in the face, yelling preacher! He would work a sweat quickly! (This was prior to his heart transplant) He could give a stare that got you setting up straight in your seat. He would preach hard about things that he thought were important and living "right" was one of them. As he would preach he would tell how God would judge and deal with sinners in a dreadful way and I can remember as a teenage thinking "Really? When? Why don't I see it happening?"

Here we find the Lord talking about giving a "Jezebel" time to repent...but she failed to do so. Why give time? Why warn and warn and no action?

Well, what we don't know is during the time He gave and continues to give to people today, what is going on in their lives, what is going on in their heart and minds, what is God doing that we don't see! Also, what we fail to realize so often is what we read in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

The Lord does not joy in passing judgment. He would much rather see the guilty come to Him in faith, many times giving opportunity after opportunity for them to do so. Don't take this time as indifference or non-action, take this time as grace.

Timing is up to God, not up to us. His longsuffering does not mean that He is over looking or ignoring sin, it is His grace in action for the benefit of the sinner to have time to repent, to believe. Just remember, His longsuffering does have a limit that is only known to Him, don't think you have plenty of time just because you have yet to 'suffer' for wrong doing, judgment will fall....in His timing.

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good Tuesday morning everyone! What a great morning out there with the sun shining brightly, warm temperatures and low humidity!

Song of Solomon 2:16, "My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies." A personal devotional today. Today Shirley and I celebrate our 53rd Anniversary!

Through the years it has been her and I. No questions of our love for each other, no doubts of our devotion to one another. Not always easy and smooth but whatever the struggles they are worth working through and continuing....together.

Someone once asked an aged preacher who he and his wife had been married for 50 years, what is the secret to a long marriage. His answer was that when they got married they agreed that she would handle all the little problems and he would handle the big ones. Then he said, "To this day there has never been a big problem to handle." Well, it got a good chuckle and made the young man that asked to think a bit.

The "secret" is no secret....God! A good marriage is not just 2, but rather 3! The husband, the wife and the Lord.

Ephesians 5:31, "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh." Verse 25, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it:" 2 verses worth reading often.

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Continue to keep George S in your prayers as he continues to deal with a blown knee and learning the fine art of the use of a walker! Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good Monday morning everyone. A nice morning, a bit cloudy but no rain, humid but not miserable, a great way to start the month of June!!

Jude 17, "But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;"

I am at the age that when I talk with people often times the little phrase "I remember...." is made. When you get to the age that I am now there a lot of memories that are still fresh in the mind, although the years of slipped quickly past since the memories were first made!

Looking back and remember the first church that I remember attending as a child. Remember special moments such as picnics, bicycle rides, playing in the snow, the first time I kissed my wife, our wedding day, the birth of our children and then grandchildren and so many more memories that come to mind!

The only way that these memories can come to mind is only because I have experienced them. I remember what I have lived, what I have read, what I have heard, what I have seen, and that is how your memories work as well. So, as Jude encourages to "remember ye the words", it is only possible if we have first read the words! We cannot remember what is not part of our knowledge!

IF you have no knowledge of the words of the apostles, there is no greater day that today to start reading, to become familiar with, to add them to your memories.

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good sunny Sunday morning everyone! What a great morning out there! A great day to get about and attend church services! If you don't have a church home, you are invited to come and join with us this Sunday at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 846 S 9th St in Clinton, IN. Services begin at 9;00 am with our Young Adult Class for those 18-30'ish, followed at 10:00 with our Morning Worship time and a sermon titled "What do you perceive?". After what we pray will be a relaxing afternoon, we return at 6:00 pm for our Evening Worship time and sermon titled "Remember me....for good.".

1 John 4:9, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him."

"In this was manifested the love of God toward us" This is how God's love was made visible, easily seen.

There was a book written a few years ago about love languages. The way that people recognize love from another. Heading the list was that of gift giving. A lot of people see getting a gift from someone as an act of love from the giver! A gift, something that the one who loves gives to the one loved at absolutely no cost what-so-ever to the receiver!

This is what God did for us. He GAVE His Only Begotten Son for us! Did you see that? He GAVE at absolutely no cost to us His Salvation through His Only Begotten Son! A GIFT! His love was manifested...made visible,,,,love recognized from God to us!!

Want to know more? Come on out to Solid Rock Baptist Church this morning!!

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good sunny and warm Saturday morning everyone!! A great day to finish up this weeks "must-do" list and prepare for a new week starting tomorrow!

Tomorrow is Sunday and with that being said, here is the schedule of services at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 846 S 9th St in Clinton, IN. 9:00 am is our Young Adult Class. Following at 10:00 am is our Morning Worship time with a sermon titled "What do you Perceive?". After what we trust is a relaxing afternoon, we return at 6:00 pm for our Evening Worship time. We would love to have you join us for any or all of these times!!

Hebrews 3:7-9. "Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years."

"Small" moments can have long consequences! We have have times that may not seem all that big, all that important, but times when we make a decision based upon our own wills, totally our choice, not realizing just how big that moment truly was.

Israel chose not to trust God. God had promised them a land, but after spying out the land Israel decided that God couldn't deliver on His promise. Thinking that taking the promise would be too large a task, cost them to much, facing dangers that they thought better not to face. Because of that, God had them wander for 40 years in the wilderness, facing many more hardships, many more battles, many more opportunities to make better choices.

We make decisions on a daily basis. Often times we do so with just our wants in mind, never seeking the Lord's will or direction in those decisions. Some of those decisions can lead to years of challenges that we could bypass IF we only sought and obeyed His will BEFORE making those decisions!

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good sunny Friday morning everyone! Lining up to be a great day to spend some outdoor time! This month is winding down quickly and June is just about here....already! Just getting used to writing 2026 on checks and now the year is almost 1/2 over! Time flies quickly as you age!!

1 John 4:1, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

We know from scripture that false prophets, false teachers have been around since the beginning of time, beginning in the Garden with the serpent. This is not new and yet there is still a great need for the warning of the above verse.

It seems more and more we hear suppose "prophets" making some claim or another of some prophecy that is opposite of what we find in scripture and claim that the false prophecy was some "special" message that God has given to only them to share with the world.

Then there are those who make claims that God told them that some part of the scripture is not true, that some how it has been changed as it was handed down and that God never meant what He said at some point or another.

John, through the Holy Spirit, urges, warns those of his day as well as us today, to be alert, to be wise, to be well versed in scripture that we might know whether a spirit is of God or not. He uses the term "try the spirits". To "try" is to investigate, to compare with what we know to be true, which is God's word. Not to take someone at their word simply because of who they are, their level of assumed or actual education, the size of following they may have, their personality, the sound of their voice. Check what they say with what the Bible says. If they disagree with God's word, then disagree with them, don't let them get a hold on you, move on....quickly.

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.

Good sunny Thursday morning everyone! Looks like the rain is over for a while, get out and enjoy some sunshine!!

1 John 3:16, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."

"Hereby perceive we...", hereby, this is how we perceive..KNOW the love of God.

How do you know that someone loves you? I am sure we could put together a nice list of tell-tale signs, but how are you positive that someone loves you? What is that one thing, that one action, or that one word, or that one moment that made you absolute certain that you are loved?

John was certain. He had no doubts, no question about the Lord's love. In the Gospel of John, John referred to himself as "the disciple who the Lord loved", not because John thought he was someone special that Jesus set him above all others, but because John was certain, totally convinced of the Lord's love for him, must like you can be!

Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

God did not wait for us to do something to determine that He loves us, He loves us based upon Himself, His character, His position as Creator, God, Lord, Master, Father. He "commendeth", that is, He made visible, showed out loud, exhibited His love for us by GIVING His Only Begotten Son for us! Proof certain!

I pray that you can say with John, hereby I PERCEIVE, I KNOW THE LOVE OF GOD!

Have a great day. Continue to pray for one another. Be an encouragement to someone today. God bless.
