The wise men came seeking the King. Jerusalem knew the Scriptures, but the nations came to worship. Jesus is the Hope of Nations.

06/15/2026

The King of the Jews is the Hope of Nations. In Matthew 2:1–12, Gentile wise men come seeking Christ while Jerusalem’s rulers remain troubled and unmoved. The question remains for us: will we simply know about Him, or will we worship Him as King?

Joseph shows us what obedient trust looks like: hearing the word of the Lord and walking in it.

When Joseph discovered that Mary was pregnant, he had every reason to assume betrayal.

Matthew tells us that Joseph was “a just man,” but his justice was not harsh, impulsive, or self-protective. Even before he understood what God was doing, Joseph chose mercy. He was minded to put Mary away secretly rather than make her a public example.

In Joseph we see a reflection of the heart of God. The Lord is perfectly just, but He is not eager to destroy. Before judgment falls, mercy is revealed. Before wrath is poured out, grace is extended. Before sinners are condemned, the Savior is sent.

“You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” — Matthew 1:21

Before God brings judgment, He reveals mercy.

The story of Scripture shows us that God is not eager to destroy, but patient to save. His justice is real, but so is His mercy—and mercy comes first.

Matthew opens his Gospel by showing us that Jesus is the promised King — not only for Israel, but for the nations.

05/27/2026

Sunday, we began our study through the Gospel of Matthew.

After spending nearly two years walking through Exodus, we now turn to the Gospel that opens the New Testament by declaring that Jesus is the promised King, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, and the fulfillment of God’s covenant promises.

Matthew does not begin with random names or dry history. He begins with the story of God’s faithfulness — a story marked by promise, failure, mercy, exile, hope, and ultimately Christ.

Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM as we continue Matthew together and see how the story of Israel, the promises of God, and the hope of the nations all find their fulfillment in Jesus.
