Are you still holding on to the "rocks" dragging you down? 🪨

In Lesson 14: Ready, we talk about what it means to finally "drop the rock"—those character defects we’ve been clutching for way too long.
True transformation starts when we stop trying to fix ourselves and finally say, "I'm ready for God to take the wheel." 🚗✨
Release control
Easy does it
Accept the change
Do replace old defects with new habits
Yield to the growth
Join us this Every Sunday night at 5:30 pm for a free meal and then 6:30 pm for the meeting!

Hello Celebrate Recovery Family,

After much prayer and careful consideration of the inclement weather in the area, we have decided to cancel tomorrow night's CR meeting, scheduled for 5:30 pm on Sunday 1/25/2026.
We would rather have everyone safe at home than risk anyone getting hurt while traveling on the slick roads or navigating the icy parking lot.
We will resume our regular meetings next week on 2/1/2026, provided the conditions improve. In the meantime, please stay safe, warm, and continue your recovery journey at home. The storm can't keep us from praying for each other!
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Darren Huey 660-492-6736.

Blessings and peace,
The Calhoun Celebrate Recovery Team

Celebrate Recovery Lesson 13, titled "Admit," focuses on sharing your life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits with God, yourself, and a trusted person (Step 5/Principle 4) to find healing and freedom from secrets, breaking denial, and gaining support. This lesson emphasizes that confessing to another person, beyond just God, breaks the chains of isolation, reduces false pride, helps you become willing to forgive others, and leads to true humility and support in recovery.
Key Concepts of Lesson 13: Admit
Admitting Powerlessness: Acknowledging you can't handle life alone and need a Higher Power.
Sharing Secrets: Revealing the exact nature of your wrongs to God, yourself, and a trusted, same-sex individual.
Benefits of Sharing:
Healing: James 5:16 promises healing through confessing to one another.
Freedom: Secrets lose their power, breaking chains of bo***ge.
Support: Gaining feedback, accountability, and a listener.
Humility: Losing inflated pride and gaining true self-awareness.
Forgiveness: Becoming more willing to forgive others.
Process: Involves choosing a trustworthy person, scheduling time (often 2-3 hours), praying for courage and honesty, and sharing your inventory.
Core Scripture
James 5:16: "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed".

The Celebrate Recovery "Confess" lesson (Lesson 12) focuses on Principle 4 and Step 5, emphasizing the need to openly examine and admit one's faults to God, oneself, and a trusted person to achieve healing and freedom from guilt.
Principle & Step
Principle 4: "Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust. 'Happy are the pure in heart'" (Matthew 5:8a).
Step 5: "We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 'Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed'" (James 5:16a).
The CONFESS Acrostic
The lesson uses the acrostic CONFESS to guide participants through the process:
C - Confess Your Shortcomings, Resentments, and Sins: Be specific and honest about the issues discovered during the moral inventory process (Lessons 8-11).
O - Obey God's Direction: Acknowledge that confession is a biblical command for healing and restoring relationships with God and others.
N - No More Guilt: Confession helps eliminate the guilt and shame caused by keeping secrets, allowing for the acceptance of God's forgiveness.
F - Face the Truth: The act of saying faults out loud helps break denial and see the true nature and impact of actions, guided by God's light and truth.
E - Ease the Pain: Sharing secrets lessens their power ("we are only as sick as our secrets") and allows the healing power of God and the support group to help.
S - Stop the Blame: Confession involves taking personal accountability for one's own actions and part in situations, rather than blaming others.
S - Start Accepting God's Forgiveness: The process opens the door to fully receiving God's mercy and forgiveness, leading to peace and a new self-worth based on Christ's standards.
By working through this lesson, participants can move past the fear and pride that often hinder recovery, tear down barriers in their relationships, and move forward on a path to true healing and serenity. The experience helps participants realize they are not unique in their struggles and find freedom from the prison of their past.
