Celebrate Recovery Lesson 13, titled "Admit," focuses on sharing your life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits with God, yourself, and a trusted person (Step 5/Principle 4) to find healing and freedom from secrets, breaking denial, and gaining support. This lesson emphasizes that confessing to another person, beyond just God, breaks the chains of isolation, reduces false pride, helps you become willing to forgive others, and leads to true humility and support in recovery.
Key Concepts of Lesson 13: Admit
Admitting Powerlessness: Acknowledging you can't handle life alone and need a Higher Power.
Sharing Secrets: Revealing the exact nature of your wrongs to God, yourself, and a trusted, same-sex individual.
Benefits of Sharing:
Healing: James 5:16 promises healing through confessing to one another.
Freedom: Secrets lose their power, breaking chains of bo***ge.
Support: Gaining feedback, accountability, and a listener.
Humility: Losing inflated pride and gaining true self-awareness.
Forgiveness: Becoming more willing to forgive others.
Process: Involves choosing a trustworthy person, scheduling time (often 2-3 hours), praying for courage and honesty, and sharing your inventory.
Core Scripture
James 5:16: "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed".
Every Sunday night at Celebrate Recovery Calhoun Missouri at Calhoun Baptist Church you will find a family of others just like you. We are all doing it together and we have room for you too. We start with a meal we share together at 5:30 PM. Then at 6:30 PM we gather for worship and praise together. Then we break into small groups together. So come and find your new family that is doing this with you.
