Jesus taught a parable about a farmer sowing seed. The seed fell on four different locations, each producing a different result. The sower was the same, the seed was the same, so what made the difference? The condition of the soil. We see what this means to listening to God in this morning's message.

Tonight we begin a series of studies in the one-chapter letters of the New Testament that are often ignored because of their brevity. The first message considers Paul's letter to Philemon, where the emphasis is as much on how the letter was written as the content of it.

Life is lived at a fast pace. We do everything fast--even eating. But when it comes to eating, we need to slow down and chew our food for better digestion and health. The same is true spiritually. We need to slow down and chew our spiritual food, and that is done through the practice of meditation.

This evening we complete our study of the book of Romans by looking ahead to the future of God's people. What is the future for the Jews--the genetic descendants of Abraham? Paul addresses this topic in Romans 11, and we will see how it plays out from the book of Revelation as well.

"Got your ears on?" in CB radio lingo meant, "Got your radio on? Are you listening?" When it comes to hearing God's voice, we must be listening in order to hear Him. This morning we see some essential components to spiritual listening.

Paul uses the image of an olive tree to describe the people of God in Romans 11. In this evening message we will see how this simple image provides profound truth when it comes to what it means to be a part of God's chosen people.

Filters are used in everyday life, such as oil or fuel filters in car engines, or camera and music filters that alter the original into something creative or fun. Spiritually, we have filters that affect our ability to hear the voice of God. In this morning's message we consider three such filters.

The evening sermon completes the message began last Sunday from Romans 10, where the apostle Paul argues that his gospel is not something newly invented by humans but the old, old story of God's grace entrenched in the Old Testament.

Scammers are all around us, trying to make us think they are authentic when they are bogus. Spiritually many scammers try to do the same thing, trying to sound like God's voice when they are not. How can we tell the difference? From one Old Testament story and one New Testament story we examine this important issue.

As he proclaimed the gospel of Jesus throughout the Roman Empire, many accused Paul of promoting a new religion. In Romans 10, Paul refutes this charge, showing from the Old Testament that his message is not "new and improved" but, in fact, "old and ignored." Tonight is part one of this message.

Sometimes God has to get our attention, because we are either distracted by something else or we are spiritually asleep. This morning we look at how God gets our attention and what our response needs to be.

Paul was called to be the apostle to the Gentiles, but his heart was still with his countrymen, the Jews. He was heartbroken over the unbelief of so many of his compatriots, but showed in Romans 9 how this was all part of God's plan from the beginning. We also consider the matter of predestination and free will toward the end of the message.

If God is still speaking today (and we believe He is), what is He trying to tell us? This morning we consider that question from 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 with three specific objectives God has when He speaks to us.

Abraham was the "father of his country" in a literal sense. Yet God promised that he would be the father of many nations. Romans 4 explains how that is true in the spiritual sense, and what that means for followers of Jesus today.

This morning we began a new study on how to hear God's voice. Before we get into how to hear, don't we first need to know that God is still speaking today? We look at how God spoke in the past, how He speaks in the present, and the real question we need to ask ourselves on the matter.

Romans 2:28-29 is one of the most important passages in the whole Bible. In these two verses Paul sets out what it really means to be a Jew. His statement would have surprised a lot of people in his day...and in ours.
