If God is still speaking today (and we believe He is), what is He trying to tell us? This morning we consider that question from 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 with three specific objectives God has when He speaks to us.

Abraham was the "father of his country" in a literal sense. Yet God promised that he would be the father of many nations. Romans 4 explains how that is true in the spiritual sense, and what that means for followers of Jesus today.

This morning we began a new study on how to hear God's voice. Before we get into how to hear, don't we first need to know that God is still speaking today? We look at how God spoke in the past, how He speaks in the present, and the real question we need to ask ourselves on the matter.

Romans 2:28-29 is one of the most important passages in the whole Bible. In these two verses Paul sets out what it really means to be a Jew. His statement would have surprised a lot of people in his day...and in ours.

Early on in Jesus' ministry He invited four fishermen to become "fishers of men." What did that mean to them? What does that mean to us? In the final message of the series on Jesus' invitations we consider this well known but not well understood statement.

Some salesmen use hard sell tactics to get customers to make hasty, emotional decisions without thinking them through. Jesus never did that; if anything, He did the opposite. From Luke 14, we see how Jesus invited folks to come, but think about it first.

Paul set out in the book of Romans to show that the good news of the Gospel is for everyone. In tonight's overview of the first three chapters we come to the conclusion that all of us--Jew, Gentile, highly educated or barely literate--we are all in the same boat when it comes to our need for a Savior.

In John 15, Jesus spoke of the relationship between Himself and His followers as like a vine and a branch. The key word appearing often in these verses is "abide" or "remain." But what does that mean on a practical level? This morning we examine this invitation of Jesus.

Clearly God chose Abraham and his descendants as His chosen people, whom He blessed. That was promised all the way back in Genesis 12. But what does that blessing entail? And why did God choose them. In tonight's study in Romans, we will see the importance of sequence, not superiority, in God's choosing His chosen people.

How can you tell if a Christian (or Christian church) is genuine? Is it the size of Bible they carry, how often they attend church, or if they don't cuss, chew, or go with girls that do? This morning we look into the words of Jesus to see what He said would demonstrate our discipleship.

Who were God's chosen people? Are they still? On what basis were they chosen? Can they become un-chosen? What will happen to God's chosen people in the future? Where do Christians fit into that picture? These questions (and more) will be addressed in our Sunday evening series beginning tonight as we being a thematic study of the book of Romans.

Many children are scared of the dark. As adults, many get used to the dark, literally and figuratively. Jesus claimed to be the Light of the world, and calls us out of the darkness of sin and into the light of life. Will we respond to His invitation?

The popular opinion about heaven is that good people go there after they die. Yet Jesus Christ said that the good people of His day were bound for hell while several of the worst people were heading to heaven. How can this be? We answer that as we see the bottom line in the last sermon of this series.

America has become a spectator nation, whether watching sports, music, film, or live performances on stage. Unfortunately, many American churches have also become filled with spectators rather than participants. Jesus did not call His disciples to be spectators, though. In this morning's message we see the call of Jesus as, "Come on, let's go! Get out of the boat and do the impossible!"

Despite logical difficulties with the concept, many people still hold on to the idea that "good people go to heaven, while bad people don't. Do you know who didn't hold to that idea? Jesus Christ. Tonight we will see how He consistently taught that the "good" people of His day were bound for hell while the "bad" people were assured of heaven. Say what?
