Welcome to worship! We stream both our 8:30am and 11:15am services. Visit centralpres.com/fall for what's happening this Fall at Central!

This fall, we're spending fifteen weeks digging into what the Bible calls "the unsearchable riches of Christ" and what that actually means for real life. We'll move through many parts of the Bible to ask one honest question each week: what did Jesus actually do for us, and why does it matter? We'll look at how God brings us into a right relationship with him, how he covers and forgives our guilt, how he welcomes us into his family, how he transforms our lives to become more like him, and how he gives us a hope for an even more abundant life beyond death. This is an invitation to see what Christ has already done and how his life and work changes everything. Join us as we explore what it means to be Alive in Christ.

You don't need to know the Bible to come to Alpha. You don't need the right words or a tidy answer. Alpha simply asks you to show up, eat dinner, and talk honestly about life. Guests have ranged from lifelong Christians to people who have never stepped inside a church. What question about faith would you ask if you knew no one would judge you for it? Alpha starts Wednesday, September 23, at 6pm.

This Sunday is Labor Day weekend, so Sunday School classes are on break. Instead, join us for extra fellowship time between services, 10-11 AM, downstairs.

Grab some food, catch up with old friends, and meet someone new. No lesson to prep for, just time to connect.

As summer ends and a new season begins, Psalm 46 offers an anchor: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear" (Psalm 46:1-2 ESV). Not "we will not feel afraid," but we will not fear. Fear doesn't get the last word. God does. Carry that into September.

Alpha is for anyone curious about faith, whether you grew up in church or have never opened a Bible. You don't need to believe anything to attend. You just need to show up and bring your questions. Guests often say the conversation, not the video, is the best part of the night. What would it look like to explore faith without pressure to have it all figured out? Join us starting September 23, right here at Central.

Active sin is what you do. Passive sin is what you don't.

Missionary William Carey knew both. His active sins grieved him. So did his passive ones — the times he didn't do enough for God.

Maybe that's you too. Staying silent when someone needed to hear the truth. Parking your faith at the door on Monday morning and not picking it back up for weeks.

Both need the same cure: repent, confess, and let the Spirit bring you to real conviction.

Where have you gone quiet instead of speaking up for Christ?

Alpha is a series of sessions where you watch a short video, then talk about it in a small group. Topics include who Jesus is, why suffering exists, and how to pray. Every question is welcome, including the hard ones. Alpha started in London in 1977 and has since reached more than a million people across the U.S. Is there a question about faith you've been sitting on? Bring it with you on September 23.

Paul asked God three times to take away his thorn. God's answer wasn't removal, it was presence: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV).

Sometimes the most courageous prayer isn't "Lord, take this away," it's "Lord, be enough." He is.
