This week, we "Say It Out Lord" that "God Loves Sinners."
They never forgot their past. Moses never forgot how he killed a man in a fit of anger. Paul never forgot how he had savaged the Church of God. Matthew never forgot how, as a tax collector for the Roman Empire, he was considered a traitor to his people.
But God forgot their past. He forgave all their sins and called them to proclaim his mercy. Christians are sinners whom God has mercifully called. Only mercy can explain why Jesus brings people to faith and promises them salvation. Only grace can explain how he calls them to serve as they are able, even in the ministry of the gospel. God loves sinners.

A Prayer for Trinity Sunday

O triune God, your threefold name was placed upon me when I was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And this day, I worship you, three divine persons in one God. Grant me the grace to continue in this faith until I join the hosts of heaven that cry, “Holy, holy, holy,’ before your heavenly throne. Amen.

This Sunday, we begin a new worship series "Say It Out Loud." This week, we are reminded that "God is Triune."
We believe in the triune God. He is the only true God. The festival of the Holy Trinity is a time to celebrate God revealing himself to us as one God in three persons. The triune God wants his people to teach this mystery in its biblical truth and purity. This festival of the Holy Trinity begins the second half of the Church Year with a proclamation of people being baptized and blessed in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, the only true God.

We begin a new worship series this Sunday entitled "Say It Out Loud."
The Season after Pentecost features what Christ teaches, and Christians in every vocation are encouraged to say it out loud. The truths of God’s Word are good for the soul, useful for life, and more reliable than anything else in the world. Watch out for false teachers who come with wise sounding words and pious promises, but who do not base everything on the Word of God! Give thanks to the Lord for faithful servants in the ministry of the gospel and those who support them!

A Prayer for Memorial Day

On this day set aside to honor those who have died in the service of our great country, O God, we thank you for giving us such patriotic citizens and a country that chooses to remember them. Also today we thank you for the saints who have gone before us in your service and have preserved for us the rich heritage of your gospel. We remember the blessings you gave to them and to us through them. Praise be to you, O Savior, in your eternal glory. Amen.

This Sunday, as we consider "What Difference Does It Make?" we see that "He Lives To Pour Out His Spirit."
When the disciples were distressed about Jesus ascending into heaven, he assured them, “It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7). That Advocate is the Holy Spirit. If Jesus had stayed in the grave, the Holy Spirit would have had no reason to enter the lives of disciples.
But Jesus lives, and it makes a difference. The Spirit provides faith and purpose for life. Pentecost, the celebration of the special arrival of the Holy Spirit, is the third great festival of the Church, along with the Nativity and the Resurrection. Pentecost closes the fifty-day period after Easter and ends the festival half of the church year. The Church dresses in red on this day to commemorate the tongues of fire that marked the Spirit’s gift as well as the blood of the martyrs.

A Prayer for Ascension Day

Lord Jesus, the thought of your glorious ascension into heaven fills my heart with solace and comfort. Even though you returned to heaven as the God-man, you are still my human brother. And so, you still empathize deeply with my every infirmity. At the Father's right hand you whisper to him my inmost needs, translating my sin-stained prayers and praises into words of beauty for our Father's ear. Having you, my beloved Brother, in heaven fills me with longing to join you in the Father's house. Now I have proof positive that your offering for my sins is acceptable to the Father. Glorious, ascended Savior, thank you for my salvation. Amen.

As we conclude the series "What Difference Does It Make," we see that "He Lives To Give Me Eager Expectation Of His Glory."
Without the resurrection of Jesus, my uncertainty can easily lead to anxiety. I am waiting for everything to turn out, and not knowing what will happen is much harder if I think I cannot rely on anyone. It’s been a long time since Jesus ascended into heaven. Sometimes I suffer. Has he forgotten about me?
He lives, and it makes a difference. I know how my life will turn out, and that certainty about the future helps with life’s present difficulties. While I wait in the time between Christ’s ascension and his return on judgment day, I know that God will work everything out for my good.
