How do you choose your pumpkin for Halloween? Do you know that God chose you to be his very own? "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight." Ephesians 1:4

Our pumpkins might be strong and beautiful on the outside, but inside they are full of gunk. All of us have "gunk" inside of us. But there is good news: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9. As we clean our our pumpkins, we are reminded that God can make us clean and beautiful on the inside.

As we carve happy faces on our pumpkins, we are reminded of the joy that God gives us. "Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even thought you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with inexpressible and glorious joy!" 1 Peter 1:8

As we place a candle inside of our pumpkins, we are reminded that Jesus doesn't want to leave us empty inside, he wants to fill our hearts with his love and his light: "For God, who said, 'let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts.
2 Corinthians 4:6a

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

St. Paul U.C.C will have its annual meeting this Sunday (January 26th). We will start with a potluck dinner at 12:00. A short service will follow at 1:00 with the annual meeting to follow.

Zion Countryside Church will be having a prayer service at their church on Thursday, January 17th at 7:00 pm for Karen Law and Pastor Howard Law. Karen's cancer has returned and we need God's miraculous hand to touch her. Please come and pray with us. If you can't be there, please pray from wherever you are! Thanks!
