We invite you to join us for worship tomorrow, Sunday, September 13, at 10:45 AM!

This Sunday will be a special one as we recognize the 75th anniversary of the fire at First Methodist Episcopal Church, now First United Methodist Church. We’ll take a moment during worship to remember this important part of our church’s history and the faithfulness of the congregation that carried First Church forward.

Immediately following worship, Pastor Matt and Julie invite you to stay for an informative and casual brainstorming session in the parlor as we launch our new Church and Community Ministry team!

This group will focus on expanding First Church’s local presence alongside our outreach ministries—from school activities and local athletic, music, and arts events to downtown parades and community gatherings.

Come share your ideas! What can First Church do to connect with, support, and serve our community? We want to hear from you!

In remembrance of September 11, 2001:

O God, our hope and refuge,
in our distress we come quickly to you...

We come remembering those who lost their lives
in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania...

We come remembering
and we come in hope,
not in ourselves, but in you...

In commemorating this tragedy,
we give you thanks for your presence
in our time of need
and we seek to worship you in Spirit and in truth,
our guide and our guardian. Amen.

Church & Community — Let’s Cheer on Our Local High School! 🏈

TONIGHT at 7:00 PM (Pregame at 6:30 PM) come out to support the Robert C. Byrd High School football team, band members, danceline, cheerleaders, and students! - Catch some of our very own youth in action!

Let’s fill the stands, cheer loudly, and show our kids that their church and community are behind them! Go Eagles! 💙💚
