To God be the Glory for the great things He has done! Today we witnessed the unveiling of the Henrietta Lacks statue at Consitution Square in South Boston, Virginia.

Henrietta Lacks is a native of Halifax County, Virginia, Clover to be exact. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer and her cells were taken from her body and it was discovered that they were so rare that they not only survived, but multiplied at an extraordinary rate. HeLa cells have contributed to numerous important scientific research and medical advances.

Today, we honored this woman that walked in her purpose unknowingly and has blessed generation after generation across the world.

New Shiloh Baptist Church is proud to have been amongst other churches, community leaders, and individuals who supported this initiative and hopes to continue to bring awareness to Mrs. Henrietta Lacks’ legacy and her monumental contributions to medicine.
