Final notes on last week's sermon on Complacency.

Spiritual complacency doesn't always mean we've walked away from God. Sometimes it simply means we've stopped moving toward Him.

So today, Hebrews gives us a way forward.

Draw near to God.
Is there something you need to surrender to Him?

Hold fast to hope.
Have difficult circumstances caused you to loosen your grip on God's promises?

Stir someone else up to love and good works.
Who needs your encouragement?

Don't withdraw from God's people.
Where is God calling you to reconnect, serve, or become more involved?

And remember: the Day is drawing near.

So don't settle for where you are spiritually.

If you need to repent, repent.
If you need to return, return.
If you need to reconnect, reconnect.
If you need to serve, serve.
If you need to surrender, surrender.

But whatever God is showing you today, don't just hear His
Word—respond to it.

Ask God to reveal the answer to this:

“Lord, where have I become comfortable when You are calling me to grow?”

Today's list on Complacency from the sermon this past Sunday.

Complacency grows when we forget the price Jesus paid.

Complacency begins when we stop pursuing God.

Complacency causes us to loosen our grip on what we believe.

Complacency says, “Church is about what I get.”

Complacency says, “I can do this alone.”

Complacency says, “There's no urgency.”

Here is today's list from Sunday's sermon on Complacency.

“Have I become spiritually complacent (comfortable)?”

Not, “Am I a Christian?”
Not, “Do I believe in Jesus?”
But, “Am I still pursuing Jesus?”

Maybe prayer has become occasional instead of essential.
Maybe God's Word has become familiar instead of transformational.
Maybe worship has become routine.
Maybe serving has become optional.
Maybe there is a sin you have become comfortable tolerating.

Maybe you've been receiving from the church without considering how God
wants to use you to encourage someone else.

Spiritual complacency doesn't always mean we've walked away from God. Sometimes it simply means we've stopped moving toward Him.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st, we begin our next 21 Days of Transforming Prayer together. Bro. Tim is inviting us to pray at 3:56 pm each day (based on Romans 15:5-6, 15 being 3 pm in military time). Even if you can't pray at that exact time, please join us in the devotion and prayer every day for the next three weeks.
