As I have received the photos and updates come in throughout this week from our missions team serving in Kentucky, my heart has been overflowing with gratitude. What a privilege it is to see the Church being the Church. First I want to thank Pastor Dallas Pettis and Sister Pam Pettis and our very own Youth Leaders David and April Pettis for pulling this all together and giving families the opportunity for this experience!
I’ve seen our students helping complete renovation projects, spreading the gospel in neighborhoods, on sidewalks, in prayer circles, and loving people right where they are. They didn’t simply travel to another state—they carried the hope of Jesus with them. Through construction projects, kids’ crusades, conversations, and prayer, more than 80 individuals and families were reached with the love of Christ this week. Only eternity will reveal the full impact of what God has done.
As a Youth Pastor, I can’t help but take a moment to brag on our students. They are not waiting until they’re older to make a difference, they are making one right now. They have served with humble hearts, prayed with bold faith, and shown the compassion of Christ to complete strangers. Watching them step into what God has called them to do reminds me that the next generation isn’t just the future of the Church, they are an important part of the Church today.
Christy and I are incredibly humbled and honored to have the opportunity to walk alongside these young people, to disciple them, and to watch God shape them into men and women who love Him and love people. There is no greater joy than seeing students move beyond simply hearing the Gospel to living it.
Please continue to keep our team in your prayers as they begin their journey home. Pray for safe travels, renewed strength, and that every seed planted this week would continue to grow. We also pray for the pastors and churches who will continue following up with those who responded, believing that what God started this week will bear fruit for years to come.
