Archeology confirms another Biblical Historical Truth:

Archaeologists have discovered the remains of a battle recorded in the Bible over 2,700 years ago. At the ancient city of Lachish in Israel, researchers uncovered a massive siege ramp, hundreds of arrowheads, slingstones and burned fortifications, revealing evidence of a devastating battle. The discovery matches the Assyrian invasion of 701 BC, described in 2 Kings 18.

Even more remarkably, the Assyrians carved detailed images of the same battle onto the walls of their king's palace. Thousands of years later, both the battlefield remains and the ancient carvings still survive, providing extraordinary archaeological evidence of an event recorded in the Bible.

"Massive 28-foot statue of biblical pharaoh who enslaved Israelites unearthed — by accident
An Egyptian farmer allegedly struck gold after inadvertently coming upon the remains of a royal statue of Ramses II — the pharaoh who allegedly challenged Moses in the Bible." --- New York Post

"A stone block found on private land has led archaeologists to two monumental royal statues and a fresh glimpse of the ancient history buried beneath a village in Egypt’s Nile Delta.
The Egyptian team, working for the Supreme Council of Antiquities, uncovered the remains during rescue excavations in Behbeit El Hagar, in Gharbia province. One statue is identified as Ramesses II; the second is also thought to depict the celebrated pharaoh."

Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your name.” Selah Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. Psalm 66:3-5

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Our Children’s Policy at St. John

We wanted to make sure everyone is aware of our policy regarding children in church:

If your kids are loud, please still come to church.
If you’re running late because getting everyone out the door was a battle, please still come to church.
If your toddler won’t sit still, please still come to church.
If your baby needs to eat, please still come to church.
If your child asks questions at the least convenient time, please still come to church.
If someone cries, drops a toy, needs a snack, or has to make their third trip to the bathroom, please still come to church.
If your child doesn’t know all the words, all the prayers, or exactly when to sit and stand, please still come to church.
If you feel like you spent the entire service managing your children and heard approximately 12% of the sermon, please still come to church.
If Sunday morning feels messy instead of peaceful, please still come to church.
If you’re worried your children are distracting the people around you, please still come to church.

Because children do not learn how to be part of the Church by staying home until they can sit quietly.

They learn by being here.
They learn the hymns by hearing us sing them.
They learn the prayers by hearing us pray them.
They learn to worship by watching us worship.
They learn that church is home because we make room for them here.

The wiggles, whispers, dropped crayons, crying babies, and little voices are not interruptions to the life of the Church.

They are evidence that the Church is alive.

So bring the babies. Bring the toddlers. Bring the big kids. Come late. Sit in the back. Sit in the front. Step out when you need to and come right back in.

Just come.
Children are not simply the future of the Church. They are part of the Church right now.
And at St. John, there is a place for them here.

Deuteronomy 11:13-15 => So if you carefully obey the commandments I am giving you today, to love the LORD your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will provide rain for your land in season, the autumn and spring rains, that you may gather your grain, new w**e, and oil. And I will provide grass in the fields for your livestock, and you will eat and be satisfied.
