This year, Pentecost also happens to be Aldersgate Sunday.

"It’s the day which marks a significant event in John Wesley’s life which some people call his ‘conversion experience’. On May 24th 1738, Wesley writes in his journal that he went “very unwillingly” to a religious meeting in Aldersgate Street, London. During the meeting, at about a quarter before nine, he felt his heart strangely warmed and had a very powerful experience of knowing God’s love, in the power of the Holy Spirit. His faith changed from being an experience of the mind to an experience in his heart and soul. He knew without a doubt that he was loved by God and saved through the grace of Jesus Christ. [Today we]
Methodists give thanks for John and Charles Wesley and consider their legacy and continued challenge to faith, mission and discipleship now. " https://www.newroombristol.org.uk/aldersgate-day-resources/

This week marks the end of Eastertide with Pentecost Sunday - and this year we pray that the Holy Spirit will work unbounded in our lives, our churches, our families, and our communities.

"Yet, God pours out differently than we do. God is infinite; we are finite. God operates in abundance; we struggle with a fear of scarcity. God’s love is unlimited; too often, our love is limited by our biases and preconceived notions about who does and doesn’t belong.

So, on this Pentecost Sunday, find ways to emphasize the abundance of God, the unbounded Spirit being poured out among us. Fill the space with red, gold, orange, and yellow. Sing your hearts out. Share the goodness of God’s work among you. Dream God’s dream of abundant life together. Pray for the flourishing of your neighbors. Send one another out encouraged and empowered to follow the unbounded Spirit wherever God may lead." Dr. Lisa Hancock, Director of Worship Arts Ministries, United Methodist Church
