Youth - Jesus Crew, Tuesday: 7:00PM Let me tell you a little about our church. It started with a man, Jerry Sexton, and a group of people with a vision. They wanted a church founded on "loving God and loving each other". Such a simple concept, yet
one this world desperately needs! That vision escalated from someone opening their home, to renting the Women's Club, to the church you see before you today as New Covenant Pentecostal Church. Brother Jerry Sexton pastored this church and kept it's focus on love. One day he asked some of us to construct an alter for the church. We took great care, measured precisely, stained and prepared the most beautiful alter we could create. When we presented it to Brother Sexton, he asked for the men of the church to come forward and turn the alter upside down. We were shocked. The bottom of the alter was all but ignored. Who pays attention to the bottom of the alter? He then asked all of us to come forward and write the name of a loved one we wanted saved on that alter. Though this was a very simple act, it came to represent the true nature of our church. It isn't about the stain and polish of the outside, or the rough and unfinished underneath; the heart of this church is about its soul. This is a soul saving station, where people can come and get saved and reach out to others to spread the love of God. Sadly, Pastor Sexton went on to be with the Lord several years ago. We were shaken up and disheartened, but we stood on the foundation of this church, the foundation of love. Brother Mike Ansell was soon voted in as Pastor, and Brother Greg Milam as Assistant Pastor. God continues to call people here for physical and emotional healing, repentance, acceptance, and love. If you are looking for a huge church, with a great choir and pulpits full of musicians, we aren't there yet. But if you want a place that will love your family, pray for your needs, and help you to grow in Christ, we are here for you. If you are a Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, been baptized in his name and received the Holy Ghost, we are here to help you work for Christ. We are here for you. Though our church is small, our God is big. We have a wonderful youth group and have recently been blessed enough to send 150 bibles and over 500 pencils to children in Kenya. Each service we kneel over our upside down alter and are reminded that God looks past our outside appearances and into our souls. We are all a work in progress, but God is the master builder. Come join us as we work to bring God's love to souls in need.
