That's the part I'm still learning. Sometimes, surrender feels less like a single decision and more like a daily choice to release my grip on what I cannot control. My plans. My timelines. My expectations for how God should work.

We all know what it feels like to count the cost of discipleship. May we also remember the promise that accompanies it: Nothing surrendered to God is ever wasted. Even when we cannot yet see the fruit, we can trust that He is doing more than we know, and giving more than we can imagine.

On August 14, 1941, St. Maximilian Kolbe was executed with a lethal dose of carbolic acid at Auschwitz after being deprived of food and water for two weeks with nine other men.

He was the only one alive at the end of the two weeks.

During those two weeks, St. Maximilian Kolbe led the men in prayer and song, and helped them prepare for death. Find out how Our Lady, to whom he was devoted, called on him to live a life of holiness and to his eventual martyrdom in the article below.

A couple of weeks ago, St. James wrapped up a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School!

This year's theme was Vocations, giving our kids the opportunity to learn about the many ways God calls each of us to serve Him and His Church. They even had some pretty great religious life cutouts joining them throughout the week!

A huge thank you to our teachers, Jessica and Stacy, and our helpers, Cheryl, Jackson, Jerry, and Josie, for making the week possible. Thank you also to the St. James Altar Society and Sharon for supporting VBS!
