It is with profound sadness that Xavier Middle School and Xavier Catholic Schools shares the passing of our beloved colleague, teacher and friend, Angie Cummings (R90), following her courageous battle with cancer.
There are some people whose lives become so intertwined with a school community that it is difficult to tell the story of one without telling the story of the other. Angie was one of those people.
A 1990 graduate of Regis High School, Angie returned to serve the Catholic school community that helped form her. Since joining Regis Middle School when it opened in 2000-2001, she served as a math teacher, resource teacher, lead teacher, campus minister and instructional coach.
But those titles only begin to describe what Angie meant to our school.
She was a mentor, colleague, teacher, friend and faithful servant who possessed a special gift for understanding middle school students and supporting the educators who served them. For more than 25 years at Regis, Angie helped shape the culture and community generations of students, families and educators came to know and love.
The words of Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others,” were especially meaningful to Angie. Today, they seem particularly fitting. Angie shared her light generously, and its impact will remain within the halls of Regis and Xavier Middle School for generations to come.
Please join us in praying for Angie’s husband, Chris (R90); their daughters, Mikayla (X14), Gabi (X18) and Haley (X20); and the many students, colleagues, friends and loved ones who were blessed to know her.
