Hi, all! Dan here.
I just wanted to thank everyone for the compliments about my photo from Friday. What I saw as something beautiful turned into something much larger for many of you. Every kind word really meant a lot to me but I'm more fulfilled knowing that my small gesture evoked something significant in many of you.
Please forgive my somewhat personal analogy. I experienced a break-up of sorts recently. We're still friends but we don't spend the time together that we used to, of course. She recently changed her photo on Facebook. Seeing her beautiful face reminded me of our time together but also reminded me of the fact that our time together has ended. It kinda broke my heart all over again but I reminded myself that she's someone that knows me well. She was a safe place when we were together and promised to be that for me whenever I need it in the future. Her inner and outer beauty will be a part of my life for as long as we remain faithful to our friendship.
All Saints is still here to be a friend when you need us. When life presents challenges and you need a safe, comforting place, drop by. Bask in the beauty of the light that struck me while I was simply doing my daily walkthrough. When I'm feeling low or life has punched me in the gut, I get up from my desk and take moments in the church. The beauty of what I see, smell, and hear center me.
The doors to the church are always going to be open during business hours whether we have weekend Mass or not. If the world has punched you in the gut, drop by. Maybe you just need a quiet moment here to sit and pray. Take a stroll around and reflect on the memories of the Masses, the weddings, and the funerals you've experienced within these walls. Hear the voices of friends you've met simply by sitting next to them at Mass. Hear the voices of your kids when they were just toddlers squirming in the seat next to you. Then hear them again as you remember when they took the vow of marriage in this same building. Or hear your own spouse's voice in your mind as you took your vows here at All Saints.
Those voices will continue to be with you. Those friends will always be by your side. Your memories will live on. While we may not have weekend Masses here, All Saints will continue to be in your hearts as cherished memories. Nothing will ever take those away. They'll always be yours to cherish.
We aren't going anywhere. Daily Masses have been announced for this interim period. We even have an evening Mass on Mondays starting in July! Those working the 8-5 shift will finally be able to experience a daily Mass right here in your home Parish. Weddings and funerals can still be scheduled at All Saints. Calla's Young at Heart will always call All Saints home. The list goes on and on. We promise to be faithful to our relationship with you as long as we're here.
I may consider myself spoiled for having access to this sort of beauty on a daily basis but as long as the doors are open, feel free to drop by and spoil yourself just the same. As I often like to say... JOIN US!
Thank you all again. My heart smiled bigger than it has in a long time because of your likes, your kind words, and by simply knowing that I gave you a little something to remind you of what All Saints has meant to you all.
