Inter-Religious Council of Linn County

Inter-Religious Council of Linn County The Inter-Religious Council of Linn County was formed in 1993, to promote understanding, compassion, and acceptance of each other and of our beliefs.

The Inter-Religious Council of Linn County was formed in 1993, in order to encourage understanding, respect, and friendship among persons of different faiths in this community. Our membership includes persons from many faith traditions, including Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Community of Christ, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Secular Humanist, and Unitarian-Universalist. We strive to understand both the d

ifferences and the common bonds among our faiths, and we ask how our actions can promote reconciliation and peace in our community and our world.

Update on this: Disposition of ashes will take place at a later time to allow for better planning.

Many members and friends of IRCLC will remember Rev. Zuiko Redding, who served on the board and participated in many religious and cultural events around eastern Iowa. Her funeral will be Saturday, May 25th at 4PM, at Prairiewoods. Everyone is welcome to attend Sunday activities 9AM the next day at Cedar Rapids Zen Center, when we will have a guest teacher. Peace to all!

Thank you to all who attended the peace service today!

Seeking Executive Producer for "Ethical Perspectives on the News"

The Inter-Religious Council of Linn County is looking for a volunteer Executive Producer for our public access show, "Ethical Perspectives on the News." This weekly show on KCRG-TV9 has been discussing local, state, and national issues from an ethical lens for over 24 years.

As Executive Producer, you would be responsible for helping plan, organize, and oversee approximately 30+ episodes per year. Duties include coordinating guests, developing show topics and segments, managing production schedules, attending planning meetings, and serving as the main point person for the program.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. However, it is a great way to get involved with the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County, connect with community leaders, and contribute your talents to public dialogue around important issues.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in ethics, religion, community service, and staying informed on current events. Strong organizational and communication skills are a plus!

If you are passionate about facilitating community conversations and keeping our public informed, we would love to hear from you! Please send a direct message about your interest. Thank you!

Good afternoon!

The Ask - We are reaching out to supporters/followers of the Inter-religious Council of Linn County who would be interested in joining the board. Specifically, we need you to attend the Annual Meeting on December 7th (please DM with details).

Background...

The Inter-Religious Council of Linn County (IRCLC) was formed in 1993 and has served as a beautiful symbol of our diverse religious community working together for mutual understanding and the common good! We truly believe organizations like the IRCLC are needed now more than ever to promote peace and unity in a time of global unrest. You can also visit www.IRCLC.org for more information.

Like many other organizations, Covid had a significant impact on the IRCLC including overall membership and board involvement. Our bylaws state (see below) we must have elected officers to conduct business and maintain representation from various religious groups in our community. Despite our efforts, we have had difficulty maintaining a full slate of officers or achieve diverse religious representation on the Board for several years now. Membership is $25 a year per individual or $.50 (per member) for organizations.

I am confident, with your support, the Council can grow and adapt as it continues to serve Linn County and surrounding communities.

Thank you for your consideration and please DM with any questions.
