Summer Kickoff & Ritchie Chapel Open House

Join us for a day of community, fun & fellowship!The chapel picnic area is available for community use all day.

✅ Free historic chapel tours
✅ Free moon bounces for the kids
✅ Free use of yard games & picnic area
✅ Free live music with Fertile Soil (5-8 PM)

The Fort will be busy:

Fort Ritchie Community Center will host a car show with a variety of food trucks from 10-2

Discovery Station will be hosting carnival game fundraiser from 10-2

Ritchie Revival will be wrapping the day up with fireworks and food trucks from 4-10

Early mornings at Ritchie Chapel hit different. ☀️ Come join us for Sunday School and catch the beautiful sun beems shining through our stained glass windows.

Fun fact: The chapel was purposefully placed on the land, so sunrise lights up one side while sunset glows on the other—God’s perfect timing in every season!

Big thanks to our wonderful supporters—the new doors at Fort Ritchie Chapel are officially installed! 🚪✨

Built in 1942 this chapel has stood strong through decades of change. After years of challenges, including sitting empty for years, we're thrilled to see these beautiful new doors welcoming everyone once again.

Your generosity makes these renovations possible, and the work continues! We're committed to restoring this special place so it can host Sunday services, events, weddings and cherished memories for generations to come.

Throwback Thursday:

Bob and Yolanda's love story sparked at Fort Ritchie on July 27, 1985, when their eyes met across the Finance Office disbursing window. Bob, a soldier relocating from Germany, and Yolanda, a civilian cashier, felt an instant connection—Yolanda declared to her coworkers she'd marry him, while Bob told his sponsor she was his angel. Introduced by mutual friends, they went on their first date that very night and never looked back, tying the knot on February 1, 1986, at Yolanda's church in Boonsboro.

Over the next four decades, their journey took them across the globe— from Maryland to Germany, Texas, and beyond—as Bob served in the Army and Yolanda working as a civilian on base, they built a life together.

They embraced adventures, made lifelong friends, and welcomed their son Dalton in 1994. Through deployments, relocations, and family milestones like Dalton's marriage to Ashley and the birth of granddaughter Arizona in 2023, Bob always put family first, turning down promotions to stay close. Finally settling in Hagerstown, MD, right down the road from where their journey began.

Forty years later, on February 1, 2026, God brought Bob and Yolanda full circle back to Fort Ritchie Chapel—a place that always held a special spot in their hearts—for their dream wedding celebration.

What a blessed 2025 it's been at Ritchie Chapel! 🙏✨

God has been so faithful, and we've seen His hand in every moment.

👰🤾‍♀️☀️We hosted beautiful weddings, joyful monthly picnics, a heavenly harp concert with GreenSpring International Academy of Music, and our kids absolutely shined with their adorable popsicle stick play on Creation!

⚾🧢🍋We poured love into our community by sponsoring kids zones at the fireworks and fall festivals, supporting Smithsburg Little Slugger's (cheering on so many of our Chapel kids on the baseball field!), and setting up the Ritchie Kids Tent at the farmer's market—giving little ones a fun space to explore being young entrepreneurs!


🏗️❤️ All this while faithfully restoring our historic floors and ceilings. During the extensive construction project we stepped out in new ways to connect deeper with our community—holding outdoor church services and even partnering with The Top Secret Tap Room for a unique worship gathering! In the midst of it all, we celebrated baptizing 13 precious souls down at the lake! 💦✝️

🕯️🌟We finished the year strong by completing another round of restoration, creating beautiful new prayer space and a refreshed bridal suite, and closing with a breathtaking candlelight service.

Thank You, Lord, for a year overflowing with growth, joy, outreach, and transformed lives. We can't wait to see what you have in store for 2026! 🎆

🕯️✨ What a truly beautiful Christmas Eve Candlelight Service last night! So grateful for the many friends, family, and visitors who joined us to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

We were reminded of how our Savior came to earth in such simple, humble ways—born in a manger, living among us—to bridge the gap between heaven and earth. He makes it so easy for us to have a personal relationship with God and the promise of eternal life. ❤️ 🙌

Merry Christmas, everyone! May the light of Christ shine brightly in your hearts today and always. ✝️
