Philippians 2:5
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus
The word “mind” here does not mean mental activity or intellectual process. It means attitude. The mind Paul refers to is the focus of Christ's life, which is humility. The attitude of a believer is to resemble the attitude of Christ. Paul sets Jesus before us as the example of the type of attitude we should have. In our relationships with one another, we should have the same mindset as our Lord Jesus Christ. We shouldn’t do anything out of selfishness or pride, but, instead, with humility in our thinking we should consider the other person as more important than ourselves. We shouldn’t be simply concerned about our own interests, but also the interests of others. We experience comfort, encouragement, love, and unity as saved believers in Christ. As a result, we ought to express comfort, encouragement, love, and unity to our fellow believers for God’s glory.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible example of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself for our sake. Lord, I come before You today asking for the grace to have that exact same mindset in my own life for the glory of Your name. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can look past my own desires to be able to walk humbly and serve those around me with a pure heart. May my thoughts, words, and actions reflect Your love so that others may see Jesus in me. In the precious name of Jesus, my Lord and my Savior. Amen
