We're proud to announce we've finally found our new Director of Youth Ministries! Taylor is currently a middle school math and science teacher and has worked in Youth Ministries for over 6 years.

She officially joins us on June 8th, and her first major event with St. Barnabas will be running VBS! The theme this year is SCUBA, where we'll dive into friendship with God!

Visit https://www.stbarnabas-cary.com/vacation-bible-school-cary-il/ for more info on VBS and the sign-up forms!

Our first meet up for the Young Adult Group is this weekend! This group is for people around the ages of 18-35 years old. It's a social group that combines fellowship, service, and spiritual development during fun meet ups and activities. This Saturday, from 5-7 PM we're going to have a game night and cook breakfast foods for dinner.
In addition to bringing the game you want to play, bring your calendar and ideas to coordinate future group meet ups!

Stick around after worship this Sunday for a Building Inclusivity Church Chat. We'll have snacks and a continental-ish breakfast set up. During the chat, there will be tables with people of all different life experiences and backgrounds that will share their stories with you. You'll get to hear about about how and why being included at church matters in their lives.

As always, all are welcome and encouraged to join us!

On June 7th Pastor Kelly from LSSI is coming back to St. Barnabas! If that acronym sounds familiar, that's because LSSI, Luther Social Services of Illinois, helps so many people in our state. At St. Barnabas, we have a number of ways we support LSSI too. Our noisy offerings benefit LSSI this year, our monthly Bingo games are at an LSSI facility, and a member of our congregation challenged us to donation match this year too.

Speaking of, if you committed to the donation match, please get your funds in by Sunday, May 31st! On June 7th we plan to present Pastor Kelly with our Giving Challenge Check. We're so excited to be able to make this meaningful contribution to their organization. Don't miss out on the 7th and stay tuned for more way we're helping LSSI, like hygiene donations and collections for backpacks and school supplies.

Like the Northern Illinois Synod, the office at St. Barnabas is also closed today to obseve Memorial Day. We are sharing the Synod's Memorial Day prayer. Today we honor and remember.

The Northern Illinois Synod Office is closed, today, Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day.

A prayer for Memorial Day from Sundays and Seasons.

Almighty God, you are our strength and our shield. We give you thanks for the members of our armed forces past and present, and especially for those who have died while serving. May their sacrifices serve the cause of peace, and may our nation be ever grateful for their service. With your wisdom and strength guide our military's leaders and give to all people a desire for justice and peace. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Pentecost is this Sunday! It's sometimes called the birthday of the church because it's the day the disciples began to tell the story of Jesus. On Sunday, we wear red to represent the flames of the Holy Spirit.

Join us on Sunday for Pentecost!
