“Today, the Virgin is born, tended and formed and prepared, for her role as Mother of God, Who is the universal King of the ages.… Therefore, let all creation sing and dance and unite to make worthy contribution to the celebration of this day.… Let everything, mundane things and those above, join in festive celebration. Today, this created world is raised to the dignity of a holy place for Him, Who made all things. The creature is newly prepared to be a Divine dwelling place for the Creator!”

Bishop, Father of the Church

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Father Camacho to his reward.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Rev. Robert J. Camacho who died on Sunday, August 30, in Elgin. A visitation will take place on Thursday, September 3 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., at St. Laurence Parish, Elgin. Today we remember the Passion of St. John the Baptist, honoring his courage, faithfulness, and unwavering commitment to the truth.

John boldly proclaimed God’s truth, even when it came at a great personal cost. His life reminds us that following Christ requires courage—not only in the big moments, but also in the everyday choices to stand for what is right and remain faithful to God.

May we have the courage to speak the truth with love and to prepare our hearts and our world for Christ.

St. John the Baptist, pray for us!
