God’s kingdom is not built by accident. It advances through hearts that are prepared, disciples who are equipped, and believers who are willing to fight for what truly matters. Beginning June 7, First Methodist Church of Carrier Mills invites you to join us for "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum"—a three-part sermon series drawn from the Kingdom Parables of Matthew 13. Over three Sundays, we will explore what Jesus teaches about the condition of our hearts, the hidden work of God’s kingdom, and the incomparable value of following Christ. In a world filled with distractions, confusion, and competing loyalties, these parables call us to spiritual readiness and faithful discipleship.
On June 7, "Prepare the Heart" (Matthew 13:1–23) examines the Parable of the Sower and challenges us to consider whether our hearts are truly ready to receive the Word of God. On June 14, "Equip the Soul" (Matthew 13:24–43) explores the Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds, reminding us that God is at work even when we cannot see it and calling us to patient faithfulness. Finally, on June 21, "Fight for Peace" (Matthew 13:44–52) focuses on the Parables of the Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net, revealing that the Kingdom of God is worth everything we have and every sacrifice we make.
Join us each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at First Methodist Church, 109 E. Washington Street in Carrier Mills. Whether you are searching for answers, looking for a church home, or seeking to grow deeper in your faith, this series will challenge and encourage you to live as a citizen of God’s kingdom. First Methodist Church is "A Place to Belong. A Call to Serve." Come discover what it means to prepare your heart, equip your soul, and live for the King.
