Our Director of Music Ministries has an invitation for you: prayerfully consider joining the decades-long tradition of Sacred Music excellence here at the basilica! Our choirs will be beginning again shortly and we hope to see you there.

No experience is necessary to join and you do not need to know how to read music. All you need to have is a love of song and a desire to share your talent with others.

Anthony will be available to answer any questions you may have after all Masses this weekend (12/13) and next (19/20). All are welcome to join - parishioners and non-parishioners alike!

As we remember and mourn those lost on this 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we hold these final three lines of the fourth verse our National Anthem dear to our hearts:

"And this be our motto - 'In God is our trust,'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."

May God grant eternal rest to those who lost their lives and comfort to their families and friends. May God bless America and grant her peace.

The OCIA class of 2026 dedicates a memorial Rose of Sharon bush to Bonnie Long of Our Lady of Consolation. Bonnie was an active member of the parish and sponsor to one of our candidates who joined the church at the 2026 Easter Vigil. Bonnie passed shortly after and will always remain in our hearts.

THIS WEEKEND: COLLECTION FOR HUMANITARIAN RELIEF IN NEPAL

Our prayers go out to those who perished, their families, and untold numbers of people who are displaced and suffering from severe flooding.

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is reaching out to help the destitute, distributing emergency supplies, clearing rubble, and preparing medical and mental health teams for dispatch. Growing numbers of families need food, safe shelter, hygiene, water and cooking fuel to live.

Our Lady of Consolation will be taking up a collection at all Masses this weekend (September 5th-6th). All donations will be forwarded to Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo who will then forward all donations dollar for dollar to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for this international humanitarian relief effort.

You may donate on the CCDOT secure website (www.catholiccharitiesnwo.org) noting Humanitarian Relief Nepal as your donation designation. Or make checks out to Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo, designating Humanitarian Relief Nepal. The Conventual Franciscan Friars of Our Lady of Consolation invite everyone to celebrate the Solemnity of their Seraphic Father, Saint Francis of Assisi, on the weekend of October 3 and 4. In the Year of Saint Francis proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV and also the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Conventual Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Consolation, it is surely God’s providence that our Founder’s feast day falls on a Sunday.

Highlights:
-The Transitus liturgy will be celebrated at 7:00pm on October 3.
-All weekend Masses will be celebrated for the Solemnity of Saint Francis.
-At the 11:00am Mass on October 4, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of Toledo will formally install Friar Paul Schloemer, OFM Conv. as the Pastor of Our Lady of Consolation
-Devotions will be prayed at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 4

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation will hold its final Hope & Healing Mass of 2026 one month from today on Saturday, October 3 at 11:00am in the Upper Basilica.

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated within Mass. Those who are in need of anointing (https://olcshrine.com/healing-masses/ -conditions) are invited to come forward to receive the Sacrament. All present are welcome to receive an individual blessing with the Relic of the True Cross following Mass.

With the Year of Saint Francis proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, all those who come to the Basilica in the manner of a pilgrimage, participate in the Mass or recite the Our Father, Creed, and also invoke Our Lady, Saint Francis, and the Franciscan Saints may obtain a plenary indulgence. The usual conditions—complete detachment from sin, sacramental confession, reception of Holy Communion, and prayers for the Pope's intention—must also be fulfilled.
