Re: New Principal

Teachers, Parents, and Parishioners:

This letter is written to inform you that a new Principal for Our Lady of Consolation School has been hired.

A committee was formed, consisting of three teachers and three parishioners, to interview prospective candidates. Several candidates were interviewed in the process. After careful consideration the committee recommended a candidate be hired. That candidate is Ryan McKinnon. Ryan has accepted the position and will start his duties immediately. Meetings have already been set up with Ryan and Mr. Ge**er, who graciously accepted the position on an interim basis, to effectuate the transfer.

Mr. Ge**er, Mr. McKinnon, and I will set up a town hall meeting in the very near future to introduce Ryan. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the mission, vision, and what makes OLC the right choice for families. In setting up this town hall meeting we request that if you have any questions, you submit them to the Parish Office no later than Friday June 26, 2026, via email to [email protected]. Mr. Ge**er and Mr. McKinnon will select an array of questions that they will answer. This will provide them with an opportunity to prepare properly to answer your questions and concerns.

We are excited to be moving forward with Mr. McKinnon. He is extremely excited to lead OLC School now and into the future. Please keep him in your prayers.

Children's Choir forming at the Shrine for Novena Devotions

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey invites all area children in grades 1 through 8 to join a special choir which will sing during the Assumption Novena. The Assumption Children's Choir will lead the music at the Basilica & Shrine's Novena Devotions on Tuesday, August 11 at 8:00 PM. This is a great opportunity for local children to sing beautiful music in a wonderfully acoustic space!

Rehearsals are: Sunday, August 2 and August 9 from 12:30-1:15pm and Wednesday, August 5 from 5:00-5:45 PM. All rehearsals will be in the Original Shrine Church (next to the Gift Shop). All singers must attend at least one rehearsal, but attending more is encouraged!

As the Catholic Church celebrates the Jubilee Year of of Saint Francis and the Friars of Our Lady of Consolation celebrate their 100th anniversary as a Province, this year's festivities are very special and expected to draw great attendance.

Assumption Vigil Choir forming at the Shrine

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey invites area singers to join the 2026 Assumption Choir. This choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead the music for the Vigil Mass of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Mass is held in the Shrine Park on Friday, August 14 at 9:30 PM. This unique experience gives singers, ranging from amateur to professional, the opportunity to sing a wide variety of music with a short-term commitment. Singers in junior high and older are welcome to join. Rehearsals will be held from 4:00–5:45pm in the Original Shrine Church (next to the Gift Shop) on Sundays: July 26, August 2, and August 9. Singers are expected to attend at least two rehearsals.

Today as we celebrated the Most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord, we carried the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament through the streets and down to the Shrine Park for a brief period of adoration.
