Luke gives us a wonderful account of Jesus’s birth, it is both historical and theological. The birth narrative shows us that even from His first human breath, Jesus was revealing the Heart of God! He can low to lift us up. He has covered our shortcomings and ushered in the Kingdom of God. He is the way to Great Joy because he has come to be with and feel with us!

We love Cape Girardeau because God has placed us here.

Through the finished work of Jesus, our true citizenship is in the Kingdom of Heaven. We are exiles in this present world—but we are not absent from it. God has placed us here on purpose.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord told His people to seek the peace and prosperity of the city where He had sent them.

So today, we pray the same for Cape Girardeau.

We pray for the peace of Christ to take root here. We pray for families to flourish, for neighbors in need to be cared for, for the vulnerable to be protected, for local leaders to be strengthened, and for people who are often overlooked to be seen, known, and loved.

We do not serve this city to earn God’s favor.

We serve because, in Jesus, God has already poured immeasurable grace upon us.

The gospel does not move us away from our neighbors. It moves us toward them—with humility, compassion, courage, and hope.

Cape Girardeau is not just where we live.

It is where God has sent us.

What if a building could become more than a place to gather?

Gospel Life Church is beginning a campaign to establish a long-term gospel outpost in Downtown Cape Girardeau—a permanent place from which we can serve our neighbors, welcome partnering organizations to build community, worship, disciple families, train leaders, welcome the hurting, and send people out on mission.

The vision is not simply to own property. It is to put down roots for the sake of the gospel.

For years, God has allowed Gospel Life Church to bear fruit through rented spaces, changing locations, and limited resources. We are grateful for every place He has provided. Now we are prayerfully asking what it could look like to establish a permanent presence in the heart of Downtown for generations to come.

In the weeks ahead, we’ll be sharing more about the vision and inviting churches, businesses, families, and individuals to consider partnering with us.

A permanent place. An enduring presence. A gospel mission for generations.

Rooted in Christ. Reaching for the Harvest.

Mission begins with presence.

Before we can love our neighbors, serve our city, or speak the good news of Jesus, we have to be present among the people God has placed around us.

That’s why we’re excited about this next season.

Beginning this Sunday at 10:00 AM, Gospel Life Church will gather at Dempster Hall on SEMO’s campus. This may only be our home for a short time, but we don’t want to simply “wait” between buildings. We want to be intentional with every place and every season the Lord gives us.

For these next 2-3 months, God has placed us on a university campus filled with students, faculty, staff, families, and neighbors—and we want to be faithfully present there.

Rooted in Christ. Reaching for the Harvest.
