What good is faith without action? In this week's message from James 2:14-26, we explored one of the most challenging questions a follower of Jesus can face -- is my faith alive or dead?

James makes it clear: a living faith does not just notice someone in need and walk away. It moves toward people. It sits with them, loves them, and helps them. Just like Abraham and Rahab, genuine faith is always proven by what we do.

The good news? You do not have to manufacture this on your own. When you fully surrender to Jesus, the Holy Spirit works in you and good deeds naturally follow. You do not do good works to be saved -- you do good works because you are saved.

Check out the full message and let it challenge you this week to move toward someone in need.

Small Group Wars (Week 4 HS Recap)

We are over halfway to the finish line of Small Group Wars! This week the 10th Grade Girls group put out a message to everyone that they are here to win it all. They collectively got over 12,000 points (8,000 of which came from 4 new students). Can anyone stop them?

The Lip Sync Battle is two weeks away. Make sure to check with your group about practicing and finalizing a song.

With only two weeks left and so many ways to earn points, the question is... who wants it more?

See you next week!

Real Love Treats Everyone with Equal Grace. What does it really mean to love our neighbors? In this exploration of James chapter 2, we are confronted with a deeply uncomfortable truth: the way we treat people based on their outward appearance reveals what is actually happening in our hearts. James pulls no punches in verse 1, challenging us to consider whether our claim to faith in Jesus Christ lines up with how we treat the people around us. The concept of partiality, receiving someone based on their face or outward status rather than their inner worth, sits at the center of this passage. Through a vivid illustration of two people walking into a gathering, one wealthy and well-dressed and one poor and disheveled, James exposes how easily we assign value to people based on what we see rather than who they are. The spiritual lesson here cuts deep: when we show favoritism, we are not simply being socially awkward or culturally conditioned, we are acting out of evil motives and breaking God's law. This message pushes us to examine the quiet judgments we make every day and ask whether our faith is truly shaping the way we see and treat every single person we encounter.

Small Group Wars (Week 3 MS Recap)

We are at the halfway mark of small group wars and we had some pretty big changes to the scoreboard this week! The 7th Grade Girls dethroned the 7th Grade Boys by bringing two friends.

To win this year you need to be memorizing Scripture and looking for people to invite. This is still anyone's game, but you have to want it!

See you next week!

Small Group Wars (Week 3 HS Recap)

We are at the halfway mark where the 10th Grade Girls group has extended their lead. Collectively by dressing out, doing a memory verse, inviting another friend, and finishing 4th place in the game this week (5,400 points) they are looking like the team to beat this year.

To win this year you need to be memorizing Scripture and looking for people to invite. This is still anyone's game, but you have to want it!

See you next week!

The Mirror of God's Word - Love in Action - Real Love Listens First

What does it really mean to love the people around us? In this message from the book of James, we are challenged to rethink the way we engage with others, starting with something as simple and profound as listening. James calls us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger, and in doing so, he lays out a vision of love that is deeply practical and rooted in selflessness. The stethoscope becomes a powerful image here: just as a doctor must listen before diagnosing, we must hear the hearts of those around us before we ever open our mouths. Research tells us that 30 to 40 percent of our daily speech is consumed by talking about ourselves, and James would say that this tendency is one of the greatest barriers to genuine love. When we slow down, ask real questions, and resist the urge to make every conversation about us, we create space for something transformative to happen in our relationships and in our witness.

Small Group Wars (Week 2 HS Recap)

The competition is heating up as we have a new team who has taken the top spot: The 10th Grade Girls. Their group was able to memorize two scriptures on top of their other points this week to move ahead of the 9th Grade Girls group.

Sleeper Watch: The 10th Grade Boys group could be a force to reckon with as they brought two new guests last night that helped them to secure 3rd place.

This is anyone's game as the majority of points lie in inviting your friends and completing the special challenges.

See you next week!
