The familiar sound
of geese
flying overhead
drew me to the window.

As I watched
them and their
v-shaped formation
fade into
the distance,
I smiled.

Here -
with my focus
out my window,
not on my phone,
not on the television,
not on the happenings
of the world,
I was reminded again
of the Maker
of this world.

As afternoon sun
shone in its brilliance,
as squirrels
ran up the tree
then leaped
from branch to branch,
as fluffly white clouds
meandered through
the incredibly blue sky -
my heart
felt at rest.

It's so easy
to get caught up
in everything
that is happening
in the world
and completely miss
God's world.

It's so easy
to become consumed
with thoughts of
"what are we going to do?"
and completely miss
what God
is already doing
and has already done.

"Look at the birds.
They don't plant or harvest
or store food in barns,
for your Heavenly Father
feeds them.
And aren't you
far more valuable
than they are?
Can all your worries
add a single moment
to your life?

And why worry
about your clothing?
Look at the lilies
of the field and
how they grow.
They don't work
or make their clothing,
yet Solomon
in all his glory
was not dressed
as beautifully
as they are.

And if God cares
so wonderfully
for wildflowers
that are here today
and thrown into
the fire tomorrow,
he will certainly
care for you.
Why do you have
so little faith?
~Matthew 6:26-30

This is our
Father's world.

He sees it all -
the geese,
the sun,
the squirrels,
the clouds.

He also sees
the turmoil,
the opposition,
the strife,
the wars,
the heartache,
the tears.

And knowing He does,
knowing He is
well aware of
all that is whirling
beyond the
view of my window,
reminds me
where my focus
should be:
on the Lord
who made
this world
in the first place.

We may live here.

We may think
we are the ones
calling all the shots.

We may think
it's all up to us
to save the world.

But,
we would be wrong.

It's not
our world,
it's His.

The Maker
of the world
is also the
Savior of the world.

All we ever
need to do is
acknowledge Him,
accept Him,
believe Him,
trust Him,
surrender to Him,
follow Him,
obey Him,
and stay focused on Him
so that we,
His children,
might find
our rest in Him.~❤

Pain Made You Unbreakable

The knot tightens under her fingers, small and sure, and nothing about it looks like much. Yet it will hold.

Father, we confess how quickly we measure Your love by what we can see. When the day feels bare, we wonder whether You have kept Your word. Forgive us for forgetting that Your faithfulness was never built on our circumstances.

Thank You that Your covenant love does not weaken with time or run out in hard seasons. You keep Your promise to a thousand generations. You loved us first, and You have never loved us less.

So today, Lord, we tie our hearts back to You. Not because we feel certain, but because You have declared Yourself faithful. Teach us to trust the love You promised over the love we can prove.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."- Deuteronomy 7:9

A one-minute practice: Take a length of thread, ribbon or cord and tie one simple knot in it. Breathe slowly and whisper, "Lord, Your covenant of love holds." Then name one season when you doubted His faithfulness and leave that knot in His hands today.
