This September preschoolers will have fun as we discover the Big Deal, “Wild and Wonderful! God Values Me!” Preschoolers will learn that God made us with worth, He celebrates us, He made us on purpose, and He sent Jesus for us. Join us in Grace Kids World for a wild and wonderful time!

This week we celebrated Hooray Day, a special day where we celebrate God! This Hooray Day was a big celebration because we learned that David understood that God knew everything about him. God even knew the words David would speak. God knows everything about us too! God leads us to know Him because He loves us. At mealtimes this week, talk about the different things that make members of your family special. Remind family members that God knows everything about them.

1-2-3!
Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Describe a family member or a friend. List things that make this person special and invite your child to guess who you are talking about. Say, “Great job guessing things about ____! You guessed correctly because you know them. God wants you to know Him too! What are different things you know about God?”

Our Game Changer Bible story from Psalm 139 taught kids that God leads us to true identity. A king named David wrote that God knows everything about us because He made us. God leads us to true identity because He knows who we are and who we are meant to be. At mealtimes this week, talk about all the different things that make members of your family special. Remind family members that God knows them and leads them to be who He made them to be.

1-2-3: This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: What do you want to do and who do you want to be when you grow up? How can God help you now and in the future to live out who you are meant to be?

Preschoolers learned that Jesus wanted everyone to know that loving others, even when it is hard, makes us more like God. When we love everyone, people can see God’s love shining through us. We can love like Jesus and know God has a plan for us. As you are out and about this week, talk about times when it is hard to love others and times when it is easier to love others. Help your preschoolers see that they can love like Jesus, even when it is hard.

Friday Prayer for You Caption
Take time today to pray as a family—talk and listen to God. Pray these four things:

1. Thank God that He wants us to love like Jesus.
2. Ask God to help you love others like Jesus.
3. Pray for those for whom it may be hard to show Jesus’ love. Pray that you can share His love with them.
4. Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they can love others like Jesus would.

In this week’s Bible story, Jesus taught that people who follow Him are to love even when it costs them something and even if they are not shown love and kindness in return. Jesus taught that we are to even love our enemies. Elementary kids learned that Jesus is our example of how to love. As you are out and about this week, talk about times when it is hard to love others and times when it is easy. Help your kids see that they can love like Jesus, even when it is hard.

1-2-3: This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Do you treat others the way they treat you? How did Jesus treat others, and how can we learn from His example?

Family Fun: Take time today to pray as a family—talk and listen to God. Pray these four things:

Thank God that He designed you for a purpose.
Ask God to help you live, serve, trust, and love like Jesus.
Pray for each other to live out the purpose God has for you.
Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they would know the incredible purpose God has for their lives and how much He loves them.

This week we taught preschoolers that they can trust like Jesus. In our Bible story, Jesus told the people, “Don’t worry! God knows everything you need.” We can trust Jesus and know God has a plan for us. We can follow our leader, Jesus, and live like Him. Trust is believing that God will take care of you and do what He says He will do. We can trust Jesus and know God has a plan for us. Talk with your family this week about times when you need to trust God.

1-2-3!
Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Show your preschooler a raincoat or an image of a raincoat. Ask your child if he likes wearing a raincoat when it rains. Say, “The raincoat protects you from getting wet! You can trust that the raincoat will keep you dry when it is wet outside. A raincoat reminds us that we can trust like Jesus.”

Friday Family Fun!
Gather some paper and pencils. Pair family members together. One will be the “artist,” and the other will be the “guide.” The artist will close her eyes and try to draw a simple shape (like a circle or house) based only on the guide’s verbal instructions. Talk about how the artist has to trust the guide to tell her what to do.

This week we taught elementary kids that they can trust like Jesus. In Matthew 6, Jesus told people not to worry but to remember how God provides for His creation. God loves and cares for us more than the birds in the sky or the flowers in the fields. God loves us so much; He sent Jesus for us. Take a walk and enjoy creation, celebrating what God has made and how we can trust the Creator of everything to take care of us.

1-2-3: This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: What do you do when you are worried? What can help you trust God when you are worried?

Family Fun: Gather some paper and pencils, then pair family members together. One will be the “artist” and the other will be the “guide.” The artists will close their eyes and try to draw something (like a house or bicycle) based only on the guides’ verbal instructions. Switch roles and play again. Share that, like the artist trusted the guide, we can trust God like Jesus did.

Preschoolers learned this week that they can serve like Jesus. In our Bible story, Jesus warned people not to let money or things take first place in their lives. “You can’t serve both God and money,” He said. Jesus taught that to live as part of God’s family meant serving others, choosing kindness, and loving God more than everything else. Jesus’ words help people love and serve like Him. God has a plan for us, and we can follow our leader, Jesus, and live like Him. Take time this week to pray with your preschoolers for opportunities to serve like Jesus.

1-2-3!
Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Ask, “What are things you like to cook when you play with a kitchen playset?” Then talk to your preschoolers and explain that with a kitchen playset, they can serve their friends and family drinks and snacks. When they see a kitchen playset, they can remember that God has a plan for them, and they can serve others like Jesus.

Family Fun Friday!
“Let your light shine before others.” (Matthew 5:16a)
When you let your light shine before others, you are living out God’s plan for your life. You can let your light shine by living like Jesus, serving like Jesus, trusting like Jesus, and loving like Jesus. How can you let your light shine before others this week?

Jesus explained in the book of Matthew that we are called to choose kindness and care about people, even when we do not think they deserve it. God made us to help others because we love Him, not because we want their praise. Kids learned that Jesus is the greatest example of serving because He came to serve us. Take time this week to pray with your elementary kids for opportunities to serve like Jesus.

1-2-3: This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Why should we help others? How can helping others point people to Jesus?

Family Fun: “Let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16b)

When you let your light shine before others, you are living out God’s plan for your life. You can let your light shine by living like Jesus, serving like Jesus, trusting like Jesus, and loving like Jesus. How can you let your light shine before others this week?

Preschoolers learned that they can live like Jesus. In our Bible story, Jesus taught about wise and foolish builders. Jesus’ words help people be strong and live like Him, even when things are hard. God has a plan for us to have a friendship with Him. Play a game of follow-the-leader with your preschoolers. Talk to them about how in the game, they will do what the leader does. Remind your preschoolers that we can follow our leader, Jesus, and live like Him.

1-2-3!
Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Show your preschooler a color-by-number page or a picture of a color-by-number activity. Ask your preschooler, “When you want to color in a color-by-number page, how do you know what color to put where?” Share that with color-by-number pictures, you can follow the directions to make it look like the picture. In a similar way, we can follow our leader, Jesus, to learn to live like Him.

Friday Family Fun!
Experiment with wooden blocks by building a house. Challenge your child to build a house out of blocks on cushions or pillows, then move the pillows and see if the house falls. Then challenge your child to build a house out of blocks on the couch or a soft chair, and see if, when you sit down next to it, it falls or stays up. Finally, challenge your child to build a house out of blocks on wooden floors or a hard surface. Walk around the house and see if it falls down. Like the house built on the rock in our Bible story, the house on the floor is the one that stands strong. We can stay strong and live like Jesus when hard things come.
