“At a time when global military conflict is at its highest level since World War II, a Quaker church in Camas, Washington, is using the time as an opportunity to remind the public of the importance of leading with ‘peace first’ as a strategy, and not defaulting to stacking military operations as the only solution with foreign adversaries or immigration enforcement.”

Camas Friends Church has hosted weekly peace demonstrations, advocating for nonviolence, immigration justice and community dialogue rooted in Quaker values.

We welcome Dr. Bradley B. Onishi to Camas Friends Church this coming Sunday (6/14). Onishi is a former Friends leader and the award-winning author of *Preparing for War*. He founded the Straight White American Jesus podcast, Axis Mundi Media, and the Institute for Religion, Media, and Civic Engagement. Onishi is a Research Associate at the U.C. Berkeley Center for Religion and a member of the Committee on the Public Understanding at the American Academy of Religion. He often writes for outlets like Rolling Stone, Politico, and the New York Times, and appears regularly on MSNnow.

Laundry Love tonight (6/4) at Camas Friends Church (1004 NE 4th Ave). Please enter through the wooden doors on 4th Ave after 6pm. Jason, Jon, Jim, and Erica will be there from 6pm-7:30pm to distribute laundry gift cards (redeemable at All-Star Laundromat), detergent, dryer sheets, & pantry items. See you then! 🧺

*Laundry Love happens on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The next three dates are June 18th, July 2nd, & July 16th.*

Peace Playhouse is a great opportunity to grow as a peacemaker. You will learn about how to have peace with yourself, with others, and with all of creation. Conflict resolution, self-care, compassionate care for those in our world who most suffer, and care for the earth are some topics we’ve engaged in recent years. We will have stories, discussion, activities, yoga, gardening, art, music, and snacks!

Thank you to all who showed up in February-May to join us in voicing our commitment to peace and justice. We will not gather in June through August but will resume these parking lot gatherings on Wednesday, September 2nd. See you in the fall!
