Are you or a loved one living in the midst of chaos due to terminal illness? Asking questions like “What will come next? Do I Need to leave my job? How will I tell this news to my children, and/or my family? How am I to cope with the weights and impacts of this life-changing, life-threatening illness?
Your first response may include hiding and isolating due to the magnitude of the situation. However, it is proven that reaching out for support and healthy tools during this difficult time is very helpful for both you and your loved ones. So when you feel you are ready and able reach out, but, try not to wait so long that you start avoiding the need to deal with things in a healthy manner.
It is a very common fact that in the beginning most people feel angry with God about the terrible issues that they are dealing with. The other strong emotion most people face is to feel that life is just not fair. Do you know that because of God’s overwhelming love for you that you can talk to Him frankly about your anger and disappointment?
He wants us to be honest and communicate, rather than turn and walk away. He is always merciful and will welcome you into His arms. He will hold you close so He can comfort your heart. He will walk with you through this ordeal. He always wants us to be whole and healthy.
Sometimes we may need to reconcile with others, as stressful life circumstances often create friction in our relationships. He may ask us to forgive ourselves for our own weaknesses or failures as we also extend this forgiveness to others.
“He wants to heal the soul, strengthen families, and bring some to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We call this phenomenon ‘God’s symphony orchestra.’” Used by permission from Wilderness Journey Ministry. Inc from their book Where is God in the Turmoil of a Life-Threatening Illness? P8.
