Sister Margaret Young is at the forefront of our minds. As members received recognition on Sunday from Rev. and Mrs. Louis Hudson III, for their efforts and contributions on behalf of First Baptist Church, it is impossible to not think of her. Everyone probably has a personal Sister Margaret story about how she has impacted your life. She was a major supporter of the Creative Arts Project Team and the Women's Bible Study and sundry other FBC and local auxiliaries. The most recent text message from her sent to me was regarding the Women's Bible Study. Additionally, she created the table centerpieces and arranged the refreshments for our Christmas Caroling on Jefferson Street concert this past 2025 holiday season. Memories of her goody bags and acts of kindness reverberate throughout communities. Sister Margaret possessed a keen sense of individuality and a "whimsical creativity." She liberally used her gifts to aesthetically transform the congregation she loved so much. Sister Margaret Young was sold out in her dedication to First Baptist Church and we absolutely cherished her energy. She created beautiful surroundings for others during birthdays and holidays so we have these visual memories to keep us company in her absence.
Words are futile, but hopefully comforting for Meyucca, Victor, Indya, Victor Jr and the entire family. With humble hearts we commemorate and honor Sister Margaret K. Young and her legacy with this brief heartfelt tribute.🌹

Mrs. Louise Parker celebrated her 101st birthday March 8, 2026. Members of the First Baptist church Deaconess Board visited Mrs. Louise Parker on Sunday March 8, after our morning worship service. Mrs. Louise looked well, was in good spirits and quick-witted as ever. The first two photos are from her 100th birthday party, held last year. Mrs. Louise Parker is the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church Deaconess Board. Members of First Baptist Church Deaconess Board presented her with a birthday card and love gift. From left to right, Sister Lisa Davis, Sister Goldie Harwell, and Sister Lynda Cliff. We appreciate all her years of service.
