We say we would die for someone—but will we give them our time, talent, treasure, and attention today?

In 1 John 3:16–18, Jesus defines love by laying down His life. Then John gives every Christian a clear command: open your heart, meet genuine needs, and love in deed and truth. This message challenges us to stop merely talking about love and make our lives available to others.

Jesus gave His life for us. Are we giving our lives to others for the sake of the Gospel?

Why did Cain murder Abel? Why does righteousness sometimes provoke hatred? And why did Jesus warn His followers not to be surprised when the world opposes them?

In 1 John 3:10–15, John takes us back to the first murder in human history and exposes what was really happening beneath the surface: darkness hates the light because light reveals what darkness wants hidden.

But Christians are never called to fight hatred with hatred. We have passed from death to life, and the evidence of that new life is love.

What do you do when everything is burning, your strength is gone, and even the people closest to you turn against you?

In 1 Samuel 30, David returned home to find Ziklag destroyed and his family taken captive. Yet in his darkest moment, “David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” He did not numb his pain, surrender to rage, or quit. He sought God, received clear direction, obeyed, and recovered all.

A desperate boy grabs whatever offers temporary relief. A desperate man kneels before God and asks, “What do You want me to do? I will obey.” When everything collapses, seek God before you make your next move.

A Gangster Asked If God Could Forgive Him…

What if one verse could break through a lifetime of violence, guilt, and shame?

Charles Finney once met with a dangerous gangster after a revival service. The man was known for crime, violence, gambling, prostitution, and destroying lives. He took Finney into a private room, laid a gun on the table, and began asking one question over and over:

“Can God forgive a man like me?”

Finney did not soften the man’s sin.
He did not give him empty comfort.
He simply answered with 1 John 1:9:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

That night, the light of God exposed a guilty man — but the grace of Jesus cleansed him. The next morning, he went home a different man, asked forgiveness, and began walking in the light.

No sin is too dark for Jesus to expose.
No sinner is too dirty for Jesus to cleanse.

This is the power of the Gospel.
