Offense will happen. People will hurt you. Truth will confront you. And sometimes Jesus won’t do things anything like you expected.

But don’t let offense talk you into walking away from Jesus.

One woman was offered crumbs. One man got fingers in his ears and spit on his tongue. Neither got offended and walked away—and both experienced the Kingdom.

You can hold on to offense or hold on to Jesus. You can’t hold on to both.

Everything He does is wonderful.

RULES ARE NOT THE GOSPEL

“As long as I do this…”
“As long as I don’t do that…”
“As long as I’m better than them…”

That’s not the Gospel.

The Gospel is that none of us can make ourselves righteous enough for a holy God—so Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves.

You don’t need a better religious résumé. You need Jesus.

If you’ve been thinking about going to church lately…maybe this is your invitation.

Maybe it’s been a few months. Maybe a few years. Maybe you’ve never really been at all. Whatever the reason you’ve been thinking about it—come this Sunday.

No pressure. No pretending. No need to have everything figured out.

Come a little early. Grab some coffee. Bring the kids. Meet some people. Worship with us. Hear the Word. And hopefully leave encouraged and a little closer to Jesus than when you walked in.

RULES DON’T MEAN SURRENDER

You can follow every rule and still have a heart that’s far from God.

You can look religious. Know the language. Do all the “right” things. And still never surrender your heart to Jesus.

Rules can change what people see on the outside.
Only Jesus can change what’s happening on the inside.

DON’T LET THEIR RULES BE YOUR FAILURE

You can be following Jesus faithfully and still be “doing it wrong” according to somebody else’s rules.

Not every personal conviction is a command from God. The problem starts when “This helps ME follow Jesus” becomes “You can’t follow Jesus unless you do this.”

Don’t let somebody else’s rules become your failure.
