Temple Overview
American Ci Bei Temple, established in New York City on June 30, 2024, is a Buddhist Zen organization under the spiritual leadership of Venerable Master Hong Yun, also known as Master Yi Yun, serves as the temple’s
abbot and guiding mentor. Master Yi Yun provides both guidance and leadership to inspire the four-fold assembly of disciples in the practice of Mahayana Buddhism, emphasizing both Zen and Pure Land traditions to help practitioners achieve spiritual liberation and foster community growth. The temple honors the Three Holy Beings of the Saha World—Shakyamuni Buddha, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva—alongside the Three Holy Beings of the Western Pure Land: Amitabha Buddha, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva. These revered figures embody wisdom and compassion, serving as guiding lights for all sentient beings on the path to enlightenment and rebirth in the Pure Land. Mission and Goals
The temple is dedicated to transcending ignorance, promoting the righteous Dharma, enlightening society, and benefiting all sentient beings. Its mission is to spread the Dharma, provide spiritual guidance, and serve the community. By upholding the principles of Mahayana Buddhism, we guide individuals to overcome delusions, cultivate wisdom, and attain spiritual growth, ultimately leading them toward enlightenment and rebirth in the Pure Land. Organizational Structure
To support its mission, the temple is organized into several key departments:
Board of Trustees: Oversees the temple’s strategy and ensures alignment with its mission. American Ci Bei Temple Buddhist Association: Manages temple events, community outreach, and volunteer coordination. Zen Hall: Dedicated to Zen meditation and communal Dharma assemblies, fostering inner peace and spiritual development. Zen Art Center: Dedicated to exploring the essence of Zen through meditation, calligraphy, monochromatic brush painting, and mindful tea practice.
