Today marks the 25 year anniversary of a day that filled our nation with devastation. 25 years ago, America was immersed in sorrow and fear. 2,977 lives were lost that day. The lives of innocent individuals, the lives of the first responders who were helping rescue those inside the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and the lives of the people on Flight 93 who saved countless others with their bravery.
This day reminds us that our world is not perfect, and we need a Savior who can strengthen us through difficult and trying circumstances. Our past is full of dark times, yet the light of Christ does not grow dim.
President Bush said, “Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America -- with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.”
This was a day of disaster, but it was also a day of unity. A day we can look back on and be proud of how we came together as a nation to stand with one another in our grief and fear. As citizens of the United States of America, we can honor the fallen and praise God for the brave. Let this day remind us that America has faced many enemies, and yet our country still stands. Let us unite together in prayer for our nation, that we might see that same unity once again.
