Week Ten - Sept. 2, 2026 Assurance: Inner Peace
100 Bible Verses Campaign: Memorization tips and thoughts.
The goal is Christ-like renewal of the mind that results in Christ-like actions, not mere knowledge.
See July 5 2026 Calendar Bulletin for General Instructions. My translation is NKJV. Choose your favorite.
Tip for these verses - Key Words: Life and Son and they are one thought.
19. 1 John 5:11 “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”
In the preceding verses esp. vs 9-10, John makes the point that the audience accepts the testimony of men, 2 or 3 witnesses, to prove a matter. How much more should they accept God’s testimony about His Son. And if you don’t, you are calling God a liar. Whoa! That’s pointed…and true.
God’s testifies - it’s personal. It’s pointed. He has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son.
20. 1 John 5:12 “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
This is the Bottom Line!
The world tries…tries to make everything seem complicated - invented Latin terms and endless commentary. Oh, and don’t forget all the steps and levels.
God has drawn a line - he who has the Son has life. Period. He who does not have the Son of God does not have life. Period.
This is the answer to the final examine - What did you do with His Son? Did you accept His offer of salvation or ignore it? What assurance for those who accept God’s offer of eternal life in His Son.
Bonus: Psalm 56:3 “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”
Ps 56 setting: David was in hiding from King Saul. So desperate, he tried to hide among Israel’s enemies - the Philistines. Yes, like where Goliath had lived. Those Philistines. He was in a fearful, frenzied madness. This verse brought David hope.
This week’s verses add different types of peace and assurance. Yes, what peace to know you have eternal life as a gift through faith in the Son.
But another assuring truth - when life becomes overwhelming and you aren’t sure you can make it, trust in God. Have faith in God. He saved you and He will see you through.
A member of our church told me this verse was on a pillow she slept with when she battled cancer many years ago. It was a comfort. May it be for you too.
And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
