Start with the Bible.

Culture is always changing.
But the way God designed marriage has never changed.

Marriage is a God-designed, God-established, God-ordained covenant. It was His idea long before it was ever a cultural conversation.

So why do we think we can take something God designed, run it according to the world’s blueprint, and expect it to produce what only God’s design can produce?

It won’t.

The world will tell you marriage is about finding someone who makes you happy, staying as long as your needs are being met, keeping score, protecting yourself, and leaving when it gets hard.

God calls us to something deeper.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24)

“What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Matthew 19:6)

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25)

“…let the wife see that she respects her husband.” (Ephesians 5:33)

“Two are better than one… A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12)

This is covenant.
This is sacrifice.
This is oneness.
This is love that goes deeper than feelings.

And honestly? I want that kind of marriage.

Not a marriage that simply looks good from the outside.
Not a shallow marriage built around what culture says should make us happy.

I want a marriage that is deep, lasting, fruitful, full of love, and built God’s way.

A marriage that goes against the norm because we’re following a different blueprint.

This one key 🔑 will take you from struggling to hear from God in prayer… to hearing from Him EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

➡️God’s Word

Your Word level and your hearing level are related.

Faith comes by hearing.

And HEARING COMES BY THE WORD.

How does hearing come?

I’m shouting it from the rooftops!

HEARING COMES.
HEARING COMES.
HEARING COMES.
HEARING COMES.

“How, Matthew?”

BY THE WORD! 🔥

We have to stop separating “hearing from God” from the Word of God.

The Primary way God speaks to us is by the Holy Spirit through the written Word.

The more familiar you become with the Word, the more familiar you become with His voice.

Why?

Because the Word tunes your ear.

When you spend time reading the Bible, meditating on Scripture, and getting the Word down on the inside of you, you begin to recognize what sounds like God… and what doesn’t.

Jesus said:

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27

You don’t become better at hearing God by chasing more voices.

You become better at hearing God by becoming more familiar with THE voice He has already given you in His Word.

Make the Word of utmost importance in your life! 📖

And watch the benefits of the Word overwhelm and overtake you.

Your Word level affects your hearing level.

Get in the Word.
Stay in the Word.
Know the Word.

And tune your ear to the voice of God.

So many Christians are living defeated lives because we go by our feelings instead of what God’s Word says.

Yes, the enemy is out there. But it’s not always time to blame the enemy. Sometimes it comes down to our own choice.

What are we choosing to believe?

Because when the Word of God is in our mouth, in our hearts, and in our minds, the enemy has no say.

Despite what you feel, when you put God’s Word in your mouth, your feelings will start to change.

It’s actually pretty amazing how that works.

So when you’re feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, fearful, tired, or defeated, don’t just sit there and agree with how you feel.

Put the Word in your mouth.

Try these:

📖 “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord. My soul WILL be joyful in my God.” — Isaiah 61:10

📖 “I will go in the strength of the Lord God.” — Psalm 71:16

📖 “Thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph in Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 2:14

📖 “I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10

📖 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not lack.” — Psalm 23:1

Say it. Believe it. Meditate on it.

And watch what happens when God’s Word becomes louder than your feelings.

The enemy has worked hard to sow unscriptural reasoning into the Body of Christ about going to church.

“God is everywhere.”
“Church isn’t limited to four walls.”
“I can hear from God on the golf course just as much.”
“Missing church isn’t a sin.”

Some of those statements may contain an element of truth, but when they become excuses to neglect what God established, they create a skewed perspective.
And while Christians bicker over how often we “have” to go, fewer people are actually assembling.

The enemy’s ploy is working.

“not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another…”
—Hebrews 10:25, NASB95

Notice: we are told not only to assemble, but to encourage one another to keep assembling.

Christians who hunger for God more than comfort, convenience, or entertainment will make Him the highest priority in their lives.

They value the Word, fellowship, and the opportunity to serve.

And this matters:
You cannot serve your church family remotely.

Simply attending and being fed spiritually is not the same as serving God. Serving our brothers and sisters in Christ is one of the major ways we serve Him.

People come to church hurting and believing God for answers. Your faith, encouragement, prayer, and service can help minister to them.

Church shouldn’t only be:

“What will I receive today?”

It should also be:

“Lord, who can I bless today?”

Parents, our children are watching.

When church becomes optional because we’re tired, busy, or inconvenienced, they learn that perspective.

But when they see us remain faithful, we teach them:

God, His Word, His purposes, and His people are worthy of honor.

Let’s raise children who are hungry for God, eager to gather, excited to grow, and ready to serve.

“Come and see.”

Those words carry more power than we sometimes realize.

In John 1, two disciples asked Jesus where He was staying, and He answered, “Come and see.”

Then Philip encountered Jesus and went to Nathanael. When Nathanael questioned whether anything good could come from Nazareth, Philip simply said:

“Come and see.”

And in John 4, after the Samaritan woman encountered Jesus, she went back to her town and said:

“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”

And they went to see Jesus for themselves.

Do you see the pattern?

An encounter with Jesus produces an invitation.

When you tell someone about the healing Jesus brought into your life…

When you share how He provided, restored, delivered, or worked a miracle…

When you tell someone what Jesus has done for you…

You’re not just telling a story.

You’re saying:

“Come and see.”

Come and see what He has done.
Come and see who He is.
Come and see what He can do.

Your testimony can become an invitation for someone else to encounter Jesus for themselves.

That is the power of your testimony. ❤️

🎙️ We unpack this more in our newest Foundational Truths for Life Podcast episode.

Go listen to episode 27! Now on our YouTube channel —and then go tell somebody what Jesus has done.

Come and see.

Trauma may be real, but Jesus is greater.

What happened to you matters—but what you magnify matters too.

If you continually rehearse the pain, the loss, the betrayal, or the failure, those things can become larger in your thinking than the truth of God.

So magnify Jesus.

Magnify His Word.
Magnify who He is.
Magnify who you are in Christ.
Put His truth in your mouth and renew your mind with it.

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.”
—Isaiah 43:18, KJV

“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…”
—Philippians 3:13, KJV

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away…”
—2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV

You are not defined by what happened to you.

You are not defined by your failures.

You are not defined by your past.

Your identity is in Christ.

Who you are in Him.
What you have in Him.
What you can do through Him.
And where He is leading you.

What happened may be part of your story, but it does not have to control your future.

Jesus is bigger.

His Word is stronger.

And nothing is impossible with God.

Magnify Him until what He says becomes greater in your heart than what happened to you. ❤️‍🔥
