Start with the Bible.
Culture is always changing.
But the way God designed marriage has never changed.
Marriage is a God-designed, God-established, God-ordained covenant. It was His idea long before it was ever a cultural conversation.
So why do we think we can take something God designed, run it according to the world’s blueprint, and expect it to produce what only God’s design can produce?
It won’t.
The world will tell you marriage is about finding someone who makes you happy, staying as long as your needs are being met, keeping score, protecting yourself, and leaving when it gets hard.
God calls us to something deeper.
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24)
“What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Matthew 19:6)
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25)
“…let the wife see that she respects her husband.” (Ephesians 5:33)
“Two are better than one… A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12)
This is covenant.
This is sacrifice.
This is oneness.
This is love that goes deeper than feelings.
And honestly? I want that kind of marriage.
Not a marriage that simply looks good from the outside.
Not a shallow marriage built around what culture says should make us happy.
I want a marriage that is deep, lasting, fruitful, full of love, and built God’s way.
A marriage that goes against the norm because we’re following a different blueprint.
