As we mark the 132nd Labor Day, I am reminded of the countless hands that bring food from farms and gardens to our tables, even as summer fades. While many celebrate, I see those who labor in the fields continuing their fight for justice.

I believe they deserve our support and advocacy if we are to create a . The labor of love should never be demanded of workers—it should inspire us all to, as Micah 6:8 calls us, "do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God."

Be bear aware! As the days grow shorter, bears become more active in Gallatin Valley. Help us keep these animals wild by keeping your garbage safe! Secure your trash by storing it in your garage or behind a locked gate until 7 a.m. on your trash collection day.

The Solid Waste Division has bear-resistant bins for the neighborhoods bears frequent most in the City. Please call 406-582-3236 to learn more about bear bins and request them for your neighborhood.
