Dear Pastors,
I am grateful for you and your Kingdom leadership in Florida. Partnering with you in the Gospel focused mission of our Florida Baptist Family is a great privilege and blessing.

Over the next several months, I will be meeting regionally with pastors from churches that lead the way in baptisms in our state, and I plan to be in your region on Tuesday, August 4. I would like to invite you to join with other pastors from leading Florida Baptist churches and me on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 8am-10am, at St. Andrew Baptist Church- 3010 W 15th Street, Panama City, FL 32401. Breakfast will be provided for you at this meeting.

This meeting will give you an opportunity to both hear from and share with fellow pastors about how God is working in dynamic churches throughout our state, as well as a time for me to share my heart to see our family of churches come together to evangelize the lost in even greater ways in the days to come.

Please RSVP to Allison Martin, [email protected], by July 24, with your reservation to attend. I look forward to seeing you soon.

With Joy,
Dr. Stephen N. Rummage
Executive Director-Treasurer
Florida Baptist Convention

In God We Trust

As we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of our great nation, let us be reminded of the many blessings that God has poured out upon us. For two and a half centuries, America has experienced the hand of God's providence in remarkable ways. Though our history is not without flaws and failures, we can look back and see countless examples of God's grace, protection, provision, and favor upon this nation.

From the earliest days of our republic, our founders recognized the importance of faith and dependence upon Almighty God. While they understood the value of liberty and self-government, they also understood that true freedom could only be sustained by a people who acknowledged a higher authority. Throughout times of war, economic hardship, national crisis, and cultural change, Americans have often turned their hearts toward God, seeking His wisdom and guidance.

The phrase "In God We Trust" has become more than a motto stamped upon our currency. It is a declaration of dependence. It reminds us that our ultimate hope is not found in government, military strength, economic prosperity, political parties, or human achievement. Our trust must remain firmly rooted in the Lord. The Psalmist declared, "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God" (Psalm 20:7). That truth remains just as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.

As followers of Christ, patriotism should never replace our devotion to God, but it should inspire gratitude. We are blessed to live in a nation where we enjoy freedoms that many around the world can only dream about. We have the freedom to gather for worship, proclaim the Gospel, support missions, and serve our communities in the name of Jesus Christ. These blessings should move us beyond celebration and toward faithful stewardship.

The future of our nation will not ultimately be determined by elections, policies, or cultural trends. It will be shaped by the spiritual condition of its people. Scripture reminds us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if God's people humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, He promises to hear from heaven and bring healing. Renewal has always begun when God's people return to Him.

As we celebrate this historic milestone, may we thank God for His blessings on America, pray for our leaders, seek the spiritual renewal of our churches, and commit ourselves to advancing the Gospel in our communities. Let us honor the past, embrace the opportunities of the present, and look to the future with confidence—not because of our own strength, but because our trust remains in the Lord.

May the words "In God We Trust" be more than a national motto. May they be the sincere testimony of our hearts, our churches, and our communities as we seek to faithfully serve Christ in this generation.
